Course Description: This course is designed to give the students an overview of basic Financial Accounting, Bookkeeping, Budgeting, Management, Choice of Business Entity, Quickbooks, Payroll and borrowing.

Course Design: This course consists of lectures, videos, discussions, and problem solving. You are expected to have read the assigned materials and reviewed the assigned homework problems prior to attending class.

Grading: The final grade is determined as follows:22.5 points Exam 122.5 points Exam 2

35 points Final Exam20 points HW

I will also periodically post actual business cases to the Blackboard. There will be test questions selected from these articles as well.

Attendance: Classes must be attended. Please be punctual. You are allowed 2 unexcused absences and 2 excused absences for interviews, illness or religious purposes. IF YOU MISS AN EXAM I REQUIRE PROOF OF INTERVIEW, DOCTORS NOTE, OR OTHER RELATIVE DOCUMENTS DEPENDING ON THE SITUATION. I will take 1 point off the final grade for each absence thereafter.

Examinations: All examinations are ‘closed book’ unless otherwise specified. The midterm exams will be given during the regularly scheduled class period, with no make-ups. All cell phones, IPods, and other electronics must be turned off while taking an exam. Email me if

you think you have a conflict with any scheduled exams. You are allowed to use a calculator only. No Laptops, blackberries, Iphones, cell phones, etc.

Homework is mandatory and will be assigned weekly. Homework will be done via “CONNECT” and will count 10% towards your final grade.

Academic Integrity: The University policy on academic integrity will be strictly enforced. All suspected violations of the policy will be pursued and the maximum penalty imposed. Any cases of cheating will be brought to the dean’s office and could result in a permanent dismissal from Rutgers Business School. (see attached document)
