DAY8Kuranda and Tjapukai

Aboriginal Centre Today is an adventure into the Atherton Tablelands, starting with a scenic rail journey through the rainforest up to Kuranda village. Explore the shops, markets and attractions, before joining the Skyrail gondola for its 4 mile trip above the rainforest canopy. After lunch visit the Tjapukai Aboriginal centre to learn about the ancient customs and traditions – and even try your hand at boomerang throwing!

DAY9Great Barrier Reef cruise

Leave the land behind and spend an unforgettable day on the Great Barrier Reef. After a scenic drive along the Captain Cook Highway to Port Douglas, join the Quicksilver catamaran to cruise to Agincourt Reef and the spacious reef platform. Snorkel, dive, or stay dry with a semi-submersible tour. A delicious buffet lunch is included.

DAY10&11Days At Leisure The next two days open a whole host of

Join Adventure North on a 4WD adventure from Cairns, via the heart of the Daintree National Park, to Cooktown, the historic settlement in the far north of the region named after Captain Cook after he made an enforced stop here in 1770. Travelling north along the Captain Cook Highway, along one of the most scenic coastal drives in Australia, the trip then heads into the rainforest, with stops at Cape Tribulation, before continuing along the infamous Bloomfi eld Track. DAY12Hokitika - Fox Glacier Just a

short drive will bring you into the Westland National Park, home to the Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers. Experience a walk up to the Glacier face and even out onto the ice itself.

DAY13Fox Glacier - Queenstown Travel

through the scenic wilderness of Haast Pass, past scenic Lake Wanaka and the snow-capped peaks of Mount Aspiring National Park, to arrive at the adrenaline capital of Queenstown.

DAY16Queenstown - Te Anau Enjoy a

marvellous drive along the shores of Lake Wakatipu, before heading towards Te Anau, on the outskirts of the Fiordland National Park. At Te Anau you may decide to continue on to Milford Sound (an extra two hour drive in each direction) to take in the grandest fi ord along this coastline.

DAY17Te Anau - Dunedin Travel east to

Dunedin, the main town of the Otago region and second largest city on the South Island.

Dunedin and the surrounding area. You may decide to join Monarch Wildlife Cruises as they cruise to Taiaroa Head to see the fur seal colony, plus the award-winning Yellow Eyed Penguin Reserve.

DAY19Dunedin - Twizel

From Dunedin take the coastal road before heading inland to the base of the awe-inspiring Mount Cook – New Zealand’s largest mountain.

Christchurch After leaving Twizel, pass the spectacular turquoise-coloured glacial Lake Pukaki, and continue over the Canterbury Plains to Christchurch, with its distinctly English feel.

Today your hire car is to be returned, although Austravel recommends spending a few days around the Cantebury region itself, including a visit to nearby Kaikoura for a whale watching cruise.
