Transcript of Sydney CBD
Sydney
CBD CBD means Central Business District. It became the most accessible part of a
town or city. Most of the rail routes met there so that is why it could easily be reached by people living throughout the urban area.
In Sidney CBD is the main commercial center. Its north-south axis runs from Circular Quay in the north to Central railway station in the south. It is the largest and busiest central business district in Australia.
GeographyThe Sydney CBD is an area of very densely
concentrated skyscrapers and other buildings.
The streets run on a slightly crooked grid pattern in the southern CBD, but in the older, northern CBD the streets form several intersecting grids.
The CBD runs along two ridge lines below Macquarie Street and York Streets.
GovernanceThe Sydney CBD falls under the authority of
the local government area of the City of Sydney.
The New South Wales state government also has authority over some aspects of the CBD.
This is a body charged with managing development of certain foreshore areas of Sydney.
