Mestre Peixe’s MessageAfter come back from Brasil and after 3 weeks nonstop capoeira events in Rio and Bahia make me

think about how important capoeira is in other people’s lives and also in my life too! I witnessed

kids, teenagers and adults from many different backgrounds, groups and social status with no

hope in life triumph in capoeira. “Today I am some body! I study in university, I have a job, I sup-

port my family, I don’t steal anymore, I am accepted in Society, I am not shy anymore, and I can put

my head up and speak for myself because of capoeira and my masters / mentor.”

It was amazing to see the power of transformation, and to see this art form make the impossible

possible.

So capoeirista, students, never stop to say thanks to the people who have helped and guided you

at the time when you cannot see or understand the art of transformation.

I just want to said thanks to my mentor and Master “Mestre Boneco “, he helped me keeping my

capoeira passion alive to make my achievements come true in life !!!

Mestre Boneco events! 4 days event - nonstop 2 days work

shops with Mestre Paulao, Mestre Boneco and afterwards 2

days grading with kids and adults .

Mestres and different groups from everywhere within Rio come

to Mestre Boneco Festival plus the black cords from the Grupo

brasil made the enormous guest list.

Lots of capoeira games, new belts, displays and amazing

capoeira music and energy, the event close up with a big party

for Mestre Boneco 50’s Birthday.

The highlight of the event was Mestra

Magali and her team made a very nice

culture performance with her students

and to see one of my old friend “Tama

dua”, who I have so many capoeira

story together, he returns after 17 years

away from the group and received the

black cord parabens “Tamandua” .

Also Mestre Boneco Gave away 5 new

achievements Masters diplomas for his

olds students: Mestre Naval ,Peixe ,

Espiga ,Curumim, and Leo Pivete for

our contributions to capoeira .

Ginga Sem Limite Event 2012

Mestre Itapoan event is a journey back to Bimba’s generation and the location is

a fi shing village call Siribinha way 4 hours way from Salvador; more the 30

metres from different groups and styles.

Mestre Itapoan gave 2 mestres belt from his group – Grupo Ginga, Mestre Dudu

and Mestre Kiki, both of them gave a very emotional speech about the lives in

capoeira , Mestre Acordeon gave a amazing workshop, the locals performed

capoeira drumming on the barracao (studio) made the night lots of fun on the

last day, Mestre Itapoan ask me put a Australian fl ag in his barracao to represent

us ozzies. The traditional beach race was very tough, I wasn’t never able to beat

Mestre Orelha this year, he took the trophy away from me after 6 years of trying

to beat me but this time he did very well congratulation, mestre orelha you

deserve it.

The capoeira competition Master Category was very nice; I have the

pleasure to play with the winner of the competition - Mestre Boinha, a

student of Mestre Bimba. Mestra Meirelou won the female master

competition, well done Meire, Australia represent! Grupo Capoeira

Brasil came third in group category, thanks to Mestres from Grupo

Capoeira Brasil there, Espiga, myself, Leo Pivete and Meire. Grupo ginga

this time won everything and also mestre Canelao and his team did very

well and at the end a big party was held, it was so nice to hang out with

my mestre friends again, the atmosphere was very playful and cheeky,

thanks Mestre Itapoan for organizing such an marvellous event.

Mestre Espiga Event 2012

Mestre Espiga event was an awesome event with big grading and malandro

roda as well.

Mestre Espiga opened his event with a malandro roda on the fi rst day, I really

like it because our concept is contagious and keeping the roots of capoeira

alive. After that 4 days’ workshop with the masters and the highlights of the

event was the studio been decorated into the favela of Rio, Cristo Redento and

Arcos Da Lapa by the kids and one of Espiga’s teacher, it created a very nice

atomsphere. The workshops from Mestre Tony Vargas was very nice and him

sang a new capoeira song and also Apache made a nice song as well.

Throughout the trip in Brasil, I heard many new beautiful capoeira songs.

The capoeira grading day was nice, kids and adults category, follow by a

beautiful performance from the students of Mestre Espiga.
