It is hard to believe we are officially well into the second half of the year, and I don’t think I could be more thankful. We continue to strive to keep our residents and staff healthy so we

can give your family members the very best of care. Our hope is that there will be a time coming soon where we can enjoy the regular visits from family members and guests. We so enjoy seeing the smiles of our residents and the sparkle in their eyes as visitors are flurrying about.

Our continued prayer is that, as we approach these last five months of the year, we all stay healthy and strong – both mentally and physically. Some ways we can do that are:

    • Call or FaceTime your family and friends.

    • Exercise.• Pray.• Keep to a daily routine as much as pos-

sible.• Keep up with your hobbies, such as play-

ing games, gardening, artwork, or read-ing.

Above all else, please know we are here for you and we are available to talk and answer your question or concerns and to try to alle-viate any fears.

So do not fear, for I am with you;do not be dismayed, for I am your God.I will strengthen you and help you;I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.(Isaiah 41:10)

Elsie Fern Clark, the daughter of Rob-ert “Bob” and Leta Grindstaff, grew up in Johnson County but later on moved down to Hamp-ton due to the lake taking their home place. She went to

school at Johnson County High School. After high school, Elsie went to beauty school at Albina’s Beauty School.

After graduating, she began work in downtown Elizabethton as a beautician at Valette Beauty Shop. Elsie later on began working alongside of her brother, Justin “Bud” Grindstaff, who owned Bud’s Beau-ty Shop & Barber Shop.

Elsie married Arnold Clark in October of 1962 and they made their home in Hamp-ton. They were married for 52 yrs. The couple did not have any children but had several nieces and nephews. Elsie and Ar-nold traveled a lot to Myrtle Beach and Pi-geon Forge. Elsie’s husband passed away six years ago. Elsie is a member of Union Baptist Church where she taught the Chil-dren’s Sunday school for many years. Elsie enjoys taking pictures of all the family in her free time and doting over all her niec-es and nephews. She loves to decorate and work in flowers.

We are so excited and feel so blessed to have Elsie as a new resident at Sycamore Springs! We are looking forward to mak-ing many great memories with her.
