• Higher Specificity: Nomore non-specic amplication

from primer dimers, even when starting fromminute

amounts of template.

• Wide Range of Detection: Accurate quantication

over 8 logs of magnitude.

• Fast Reaction Times: Shorter reaction times due to

optimized buer formulation. Suitable for use with

Fast PCR instruments.

• Versatility: Use on any qPCR instrument.

Takara Bio announces the

introduction of SYBR® Premix

Ex Taq™2 , the newest addition

to the Perfect Real Time Series.

This real time PCR premix features a

superior buer formulation which limits

non-specic amplication and primer

dimer formation. This provides extremely

high specicity, sensitivity, and accurate

quantication over a wide range of template

concentrations. In addition, SYBR® Premix Ex Taq™2is compatible with a variety of real time PCR instruments

and high speed qPCR applications.

Gel Protein Recovery SystemTheGPR-800 isanadvanced,microfluidics-basedgelprotein recovery(GPR) system for the rapid and efficient extraction of proteinsfrom polyacrylamide gels. The system makes use of a proprietaryplastic microfluidic chip in a high voltage environment to allowfast, simultaneous recovery in eight parallel microchannels. It is aclosed system with minimal dead volume, assuring no introductionof contaminants. The recovered proteins can be easily analyzed bymass spectrometry to determine intact mass or perform top-downproteomics experiments.Protea BiosciencesFor information 877-776-8321www.proteabio.com

IlluminatorTheMidac Illuminator is a compact Fourier transform infraredmodulethat integrates well with a variety of sample interfaces in virtuallyany configuration. Inside each Illuminator is an infrared source andinterferometer that provide a collimated output beam. The ruggedmodule can be coupled with any sampling accessory equipped withits own infrared detector to create a compact dedicated analyzer.Alternatively, the Illuminator’s internal infrared source can bereplaced with a detector module for emissions work or for use withan external infrared source. The unit can be powered by a 12-voltbattery for use in remote or field applications.Midac Corp. For information 714-546-4322www.midac.com

Gel Permeation ChromatographySolvent-enhanced light scattering (SELS) is a new light-scatteringtechnique that can be used in gel permeation chromatography(GPC) applications in which the demands of sample solvent andmobile phase are different. The technique allows users with twodifferent solvents to separately optimize the sample preparationstep and the chromatographic conditions to increase the refractive

index increment to get better light-scattering responses. Viscotekhas published an application note about a fluoropolymer analysis bySELS-GPC in which the fluoropolymer is dissolved in tetrahydrofuranand then this solution is injected into a mobile phase of acetone foranalysis.Viscotek EuropeFor information +44-1344-467180www.viscotek.com

Perfusion SystemThe Perfusion System for Cell Isolation is designed for harvestingindividual cells from the isolated organs of mice, rats, and guineapigs. It featuresdual perfusionpathways, inwhichonecircuit deliversperfusate to flush out blood cells while a second circuit delivers anenzyme solution to disintegrate tissue and release individual cells. The system is simple to operate using a single manual switch tochange between the perfusion pathways. The dead/mixing volumein the perfusion pathway is less than 100 microliters. A dedicatedextension for cardiomyocyte isolation ensures a positive pressurewithin the heart chamber to prevent bacterial contamination.Adaptations for in situ and in vivo perfusions are available.Hugo Sachs Elektronik—Harvard ApparatusFor information 800-272-2775www.harvardapparatus.com
