Get youR PC ReaDy

a. Plug your PC into a wall outlet.

B. Choose what you want to transfer and circle those below. Then organize that content using the tips at right.

C. Optional: Connect your PC to the Internet so the Switch-to-Mac Installer can check for updates.

If you plan to transfer: Do this:

Internet Explorer® bookmarks Organize bookmark folders, delete unwanted bookmarks.

My Music Put all music in My Music, delete unwanted music files.

My Pictures Put all pictures in My Pictures, delete unwanted pictures.

My Videos Put all videos in My Videos, delete unwanted videos.

My Documents Put all documents in My Documents, delete unwanted files.

Outlook®/Outlook Express Delete unwanted emails.

Files on the desktop Move unwanted files off the desktop.

Desktop wallpaper Delete unwanted wallpaper files.

Custom folders Make a new folder on the hard drive, fill it with other folders and files to transfer.

Windows Vista® users: Instead of Outlook Express, you have Windows® Mail, Contacts, and Calendar.

Get youR Mac® CoMPuteR ReaDy

a. Plug your Mac into a wall outlet.

B. Certain Mac applications MUST be opened at least once before starting the transfer. See the checklist on the right.

C. Optional: Connect your Mac to the Internet so the Switch-to-Mac Installer can check for updates.

If you plan to transfer: then you must open:

Outlook Express Contacts Address Book

Note: Mac applications themselves may require a few setup steps if you are opening them for the first time. This may take a few minutes.

Note: The Mail application may ask you about email account information. Do this:

Brand-new Mac computers: If you don’t have the account info handy, go ahead and cancel the Mail setup process. The Switch-to-Mac transfer will still work if you’ve taken it that far.

Older Mac computers: Complete the entire Mail setup, including account information.

INStall the SoftwaRe oN youR PC

a. Insert the CD into the PC. The installation program should run automatically.

If it does not run automatically, do the following:

1. Click “Start > My Computer”*.

2. Double-click icon for the Switch-to-Mac Utility CD.

3. Double-click the Setup application found on the CD.

B. On the Welcome screen, click “Install”.*For Windows Vista users, click “Start > Computer”.

C. When the installation is done on the PC, eject the CD and bring it to the Mac.

a. Insert the CD into the Mac. A CD icon will appear on the desktop.

B. Double-click the CD icon.

C. Double-click the “Mac Install Files” folder.

D. Double-click “Switch-to-Mac Utility.pkg”.

e. Follow the instructions on-screen.

Make sure the Cable end labeled “PC” is connected to the PC, and the end labeled “Mac” is connected to the Mac.

B. Follow the prompts until the Utility indicates that it is waiting for the Mac to start the transfer. Then go to the Mac.

B. Follow the instructions on the screen to migrate your files from PC to Mac.
