SWITCHFIREBEATZ & SCHELLA

WHAT’S THE CONCEPT

The concept of the video is about how a man that as a child was bullied by other kids, this made the child learn to fight so he could defend himself from the bullies. In the future he becomes an amateur boxer and as he’s being beaten by another boxer he remembers his past and has the power to win the match, as he’s loosing the fight he sees everything as demonic figures as I think he’s in torture as the fights reminds him of the horrible times he had as a child, as well as shows that all humans have a dark side.

CAMERA

In this video we see a wide variety of shots, ranging from close ups, long shots and medium close ups. Most of these shots are used to create suspense to the audience, for example when the main character see the demons in the people we can see quite a few of the medium shots and close ups of the demonic girls, this represents the darkness in most people how they may look normal on the surface but underneath all have demonic personalities. We can also see one of Sven Carlssons modern mythical embodiments, in this case it’s the electronic shaman, this show things that can possibly be real such as the demon girls and the demon boxer for example.

SOUNDThe sound to this music video is quite up beat, which is typical in the EDM genre of dance music (Electronic Dance Music) the video and the sound sync quite well creating the effect that the video was looking for as the fighting scene goes very well with the rhythm of music. Also the dancing women help to show how the rhythm of the music can be followed quite easily.

MISE-EN-SCENE

There’s quite a lot of Mise-en-scene in the music video, ranging from the way the boxers dress to the way the make up of the women makes them look demonic towards the end of the video. The costume and make up are trying to show the demonic side of people, this can be further interpreted with the colour of the setting used in the video which is a dark brown colour, and to show childhood trauma we see the light blue colour.

EDITING

The editing is quite well done, the editing is cut to a degree that it can keep up with the beat and rhythm of the song, using quick cuts and elongated shots at the beginning are there to show the emotions at the beginning and the danger of fighting during the middle of the music video.
