Founded by Mrs Aygol Vermot Babaki, a Swiss dental hygienist & Mr Steeve Vermot

2007

Our first trip to Myanmar and discovering the Phaung Daw Oo Monastic School in Mandalay (7500 children from disadvantaged families and orphan children).

Check-ups for 500 children to discover that more than 80% of them were suffering from dental disease.

Dental health lessons were given to thousands of children and students of this school-orphanage.

Back in Switzerland and creation of the Thannaka Association. Working hard to find funding to be able to open a dental clinic and offer free

toothpastes and toothbrushes.

2008

With the first funds, purchase of the 1st dental unit and opening the dental clinic of the Thannaka Association

Purchase of a water pump, generator, compressor, basic materials for dental treatments

Collaboration with local dentists to treat for free children from this school 2x/week

Trying to find Swiss volunteers (dentist and dental hygienist) to work and treat the children in this school

Creation of the website www.thannaka.ch

2009

Purchase of an autoclave, materials, fridge, AC, x-ray equipment…and thousands of toothbrushes and toothpastes

Same as 2012… Sent some volunteers: - 2 couples of Swiss dentists - 1 dentist from Austria - 1 Swiss dental hygienist Organization of the dental clinic by the volunteer dentists Teaching Swiss dental technology to local dentists

We are back…with our 18 month old baby boy We are working in the dental clinic Giving dental health instruction to the 300 teachers with insistance that they
