Technical data sheet SwiSS9 GmbH EMPA spinoff company Aarbergstrasse 5, CH2560, Nidau, CH http://www.swiss9.com [email protected] Last update of data sheet March 2015 SwiSS9® is a transparent, Teflonlike and easytoclean coating PRODUCT DESCRIPTION SwiSS9® surface treatment is a two component liquid solution that once deposited atop suitable surfaces produces a protective and particles and liquids repelling coating. Swiss9® bonds chemically with: Glass Ceramic Metal Stone Wood Textile or any other oxide rich surface and creates a durable ultrathin layer. The technology is based on silane chemistry and was researched and developed by scientists Dr. E. Balic and Dr. R. Ghisleni while at Advanced Materials Processing Laboratory, EMPAThun. It is proudly manufactured by SwiSS9, GmbH in Nidau, Switzerland, an “EMPA Spinoff company.” PROPERTIES OF THE COATED SURFACE Water and oil repellent Hydrophobicity (glass): Static Contact Angle 101˚ Tilt Angle 17˚ Antimicrobial Antireflective Antifingerprint Antiicing Antifog Antigraffiti Particles (dirt, sand, mineral deposits, vehicular emissions etc.) repellent SwiSS9® decreases lime deposition more than competition does! SwiSS9® decreases sand deposits nearly 3X compared to uncoated glass! SwiSS9® film also increases the amount of transmitted light/solar energy through a typical glass substrate by 23% Water drop atop SwiSS9 coated glass Temperature resistance UV resistance Mechanical resistance Wear resistance (no degradation observed) Chemical resistance (SwiSS9 can sustain a continuous 2h immersion) From 40C to 350C EN ISO 48922 Only minor decrease of contact angle after abrasion test using quartz sand (ASTM F73511) Number of Cycles vs. Microfiber Cloth Number of Cycles vs. Cotton Rag Number of Wipes HCI (5%) Vinegar (5%) H2O2 (5%) Glass Cleaner Bleach Multi Purpose Cleaner Very good 4000 750 1500 APPLICATION METHODS STORAGE AND APPLICATION INFO Consumer application DIY kit: 100% consumer safe Factory application Spraying and orbital polishing (http://youtu.be/VjX5xGfP0qI) (efficiency: 2m 2 coated in 3.5’) Industrial rolltoroll deposition system (deposition efficiency as per customer’s requirements) CURING TIME AND APPLICATION CONDITIONS Deposition & curing time is 12 minutes in typical European outdoor conditions or on factory floors per meter squared. The surface needs to be dirt and particles clean prior to deposition of the coating. CONSUMPTION Empirical efficiency on glass is 1 liter for 125 m2. As it is a two component solution, to cover 125 m2, you will need 1 liter of the first layer (primer) and 1 liter of the second layer (functionalization). PRODUCT STORAGE Container must be closed immediately after use to avoid moisture contamination. Shelflife is 12 months, out of sunlight and at 25C. FILM MAINTENANCE AND DURABILITY MAINTENANCE The resulting film is resistant against typical household cleaning agents. Extended exposures to strong acids/bases (industrial grade) reaching continuous time durations of several tens of minutes can affect the film. DURABILITY Without any care: several years.
