Students go directly to the pool where they will be met by staff. Students that travel to school by bus will be dropped off at the pool. Students that usually walk or are dropped off by parents go straight to the pool. Wear you house colours and have fun. They may remain 1.5 distanced while waiting for students under the small shelter. • Visitors who need to remain longer than 10 minutes on site will need to sign in at the office using the new QR code and sign on sheet. • As our uniform shop is in the centre of school we encourage parents to order online and they will be filled by staff. Parents will then be contacted to pick them up. Leader Induction We will hold our School Leader and House Leader Induction at 9:30am on Monday, 15 February 2021 in the hall at Whole School Assembly. Our School Leaders are: Bob , Isabella, Hannah, Maya, Sunny and Isla Our new Sport House Leaders are: Doepel: Soloman, Lachlan, Lilu, & Eadie. Jarrett: Deegan, Beau, Pacific & Dana. Marx: Casper, Anouk, Indie & Tobey. Noble: Anya, Morgan, Arlo, & Gaia We encourage their parents to join us if possible. Sport House Leaders

Swimming Carnival Our school swimming carnival will be held this Thursday at the Bellingen YMCA pool. All students 8 years and older were given an orange note with information last Friday. This is a mandatory carnival and students are expected to make their own way to the pool. School buses will drop students to the pool. Students will walk back to school for normal collection routines. Non attendance will be marked as an absence. All students and parents attending must adhere to the Bellingen YMCA Swim Centre COVID guidelines. Maximum numbers in attendance will be stipulated by the Swim Centre and guidelines will be enforced by the Swim Centre staff.
Attendance All students are required to be at school everyday the school is open. If your child is sick, parents are required to notify the school either by phone, note or email. If they are away for 3 days without explanation, their class teacher will contact the family. Family holidays are not deemed acceptable reasons for non attendance and require permission from the Principal. Please contact the school for the appropriate forms. Continued lateness and early leaving is also monitored as unacceptable.
Music Lessons Music and instrument lessons are offered to our students by various private tutors from the Bellingen area. The lessons are provided by external providers and parents negotiate directly with these tutors. Our office staff have all the information you require if you would like your child to learn an instrument. We are very lucky to have this valuable resource for our students.
School Community Charter We have attached the DoE School Community Charter which outlines the responsibility of all parents, carers, educators and school staff in NSW Schools. Please ensure you have read it.
School Development Day Training All staff participated in professional learning and mandatory training last Wednesday and Thursday. This included ‘Second Steps’ – a whole school wellbeing program which will be introduced across the school K-6, CPR and Anaphylaxis training, Code of Conduct and general planning for classes and the school for 2021. Ness Cavanagh, Principal P and C News Hello to our new parents and carers who are joining our wonderful school in 2021 and a warm welcome back to those who return to what I am sure will be a wonderful year whatever year or class your student returns! Our small, yet vibrant, welcoming and caring P&C would like to invite you to our monthly meetings which will begin in March this year. Our very first meeting together will include our annual AGM, followed by our monthly meeting with our new executive elected for the 2021-2022 year immediately appointed into their new roles. We hope you can join us and help support our students within the school, as well as our very caring teaching staff. We understand that this meeting time does not suit all parents and carers; however, please feel free to contact us for any suggestions, ideas or concerns you may have that will support our students and teachers. If you would still like to support our P and C and are unable to attend the meetings, we would still love for you to be involved. Our P and C organises events during the year (such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day stalls, where we need parents to coordinate and organise the selling of various items for our students to purchase as gifts)- do let us know if you can help, offer a particular skillset or would prefer to help with these daytime events. Hope to see you soon. Thank you Parents and Citizens association Uniform Shop Uniform orders can be placed by having your child drop off an order form with payment to the office. We will fill the orders have them ready for students to take home or call parents to come to the gate for collection. Please note the Uniform shop accepts only cash or cheques, correct money would be appreciated. Order forms are available under “Current Notes” on the school website or call the office if you need an order form sent home with your child. Band News A big aim for this year is to push for greater involvement of musicians in the school band program. It has been a quality small-scale ensemble for a long time, but we need to push for greater depth in numbers now to expand the sound and instrumentation further. We are always looking for more woodwind, brass, percussion students (we had no percussion last year, and piano students can always be involved with tuned and auxiliary percussion), and bass guitar/double bass. The school band program challenges students, but has helped create some of the most skilled and resilient musicians over the years going through to high school and beyond. Band is held on Thursday each week with the occasional assembly perform each term.
