SWADHISTHAN CHAKRA
Age 6 Months to 2 Yrs
Element Water
Planet Saturn
Location Lower
Abdomen/Sacral
Task Sensate Exploration
Colour Orange
DIVING IN THE WATER
Our element has shifted from Earth to Water.
From Solid to Liquid. In this process we
encounter change through which we find
stimulation and expansion.
Emotional fulfillment comes from balancing
the emotional flow and emotional
containment.
The task of first chakra was to built this
container. In secound we look at its contents.
LETTING GO MOVEMENT
In first chakra we learned to ground, stabilize
and focus. Now, our challenge is just the
opposite--- to let go--- to flow and move, to
feel and to yield.
We build muscle tissues, increase circulation,
stimulate nerve endings, and enhance the
body's flexibility and aliveness.
SENSATION
Senses are the bond between the internl and external world. Sight, touch, sound, taste and hearing give us constantly change of the world around us.
We differentiate between pleasure and pain. When in pain our senses shut down.
Without a sensual connection to what is around us, we lose our sense of values and distinctions.
PLEASURE
What do we do after a day of hard work? We relax and turn towards some form of pleasure.
Pain makes us contract, withdraw, or shut down, but pleasure invites us to extend, expand, tune in to our senses.
For a child pleasure comes from touch, closeness.
But not all children are given such basic requirements.
EMOTIONS
Emotions are reactions to sensory data.
Without consciousness, emotions govern our
reactions.
We may get angry, fall in or out of love, feel
depress or afraid.
We may choose the way we respond to the
situation but feelings have their own life.
Releasing the emotions frees the body.
NEED
Need is the necessities. As children we are
often shamed for our needs. Our parents
may have been unable to meet them, or may
have had unmet needs of their own. We were
taught they were not necessities.
Some times we feel guilty of our needs.
When we reclaim our needs, we take
responsibility for our own fulfillment.
DESIRE
You are what your deep driving desire is. As
your desire is, so is your will. As your will is,
so is your deed. As your deed is, so is your
destiny.
Desire is a spiritual/emotional impulse that
inspires us to move to something greater, to
embrace the change.
It is the essential thrusting forward that leads
us to action .
SHADOW
This chakra is associated with duality and
polarity.
Shadow represents repressed instinctual
energies that are locked away in
unconsciousness.
Reclaiming the shadow dissolves judgment,
and brings greater acceptance of self and
others and restores wholeness.
GUILT
Guilt is the DEMON of 2nd chakra because it
curtails free flow of movements.
Guilt tells us where the boundaries are and
where we need to make change.
Guilt is a teacher when it guides us, but a
demon when it blinds us.
TRAUMAS AND ABUSES
When body identity is not affirmed through
touch, it often replaced with frozen self.
Lack of touch prohibits the development of
the principle channels of sensory reception.
Child retreats into inner world of fantasy and
imagination.
EMOTIONAL ENVIRONMENT
If a child has gone through parents divorce
and seen constant rage then they feel that
the way to express is through anger.
However they are often punished for it.
Emotions are the first language of a child.
We feel guilty about our feelings and repress
them, and develop fear or phobia in future.
SEXUAL ABUSE
This has long lasting effects on all aspects of
2nd chakra.
It can produce emotional numbness,
dissociation, various addictions, eating
disorders or phobia, sexual dysfunction,
sleep disorder etc.
Abuse survival often feel betrayed by their
own body.
RAPE
As the 2nd chakra is the first place where the
outside comes in, the violation may force the
entire system to close.
The stronger our basic lower chakra
foundations, the better our resources for
recovery.
ABORTION
This is not an abuse that happens to young
child but it has tremendous effect on
women's 2nd chakra.
On an emotional level it constitutes a
struggle, the decision is never easy. It is
accompanied by emotional trauma, guilt,
fear.
EFFECTS OF ABUSES
Anything that blocks 2nd chakras growth
serves 2 connections the internal connection
between the mind and body, and the external
connection that joins inner and outer world.
If expression through movement is denied
our bodies become rigid. Lack of flexibility
and openness to new ideas, adventures etc.
EXCESS OF 2ND CHAKRA
A person is more alive in intense emotional
state.
In this type the upward current based in
unconscious instincts is more active.
They face difficulty in separating ones
feelings from others.
An excessive chakra grabs energy and does
not allow it to flow to other chakras.
DEFICIENCY OF 2ND CHAKRA
Depressive moods, not able to decipher thre
cause.
Restricted movements .Jerky or rigidity, stiff
joints.
Lack of sexual desire.
Shame around sex.
Social skills are not developed.
HEALING THE 2ND CHAKRA
Healing is largely a matter of encouraging
the excess or deficiency to move towards the
center
Where movement is restricted, identify
holding patterns and encourage movements.
Where movement is excessive, learn to
contain, either by releasing emotions, or by
tolerating the increase sensation.
