Carbon fiber
Carbon fibershafts production
SVECOM P.E. has created a new business unit,
SVECOM CARBON FIBER which uses the experience
gained over 50 years in shaft production combined
with the new technology of carbon fiber. This results
in a solution that maximizes the advantages of
reduced shaft body weights and high mechanical
performancs.
CARBON FIBER
The process involves a new production plant in
which shafts of various dimensions can be
manufactured to meet customers demand.
To produce carbon fiber, the carbon atoms are
bonded together in crystals that are more or less
aligned parallel to the long axis of the fiber as the
crystal alignment gives the fiber high strength-
to-volume ratio (making it strong for its size).
Several thousand carbon fiber's are bundled
together to form a tow, which may be used by
itself or woven into a fabric.
The properties of carbon fiber's, such as high
stiffness, high tensile strength, low weight, high
chemical resistance, high temperature tolerance
and low thermal expansion, make them very usefull
in shafts sector.

IDLER
CARBON FIBER ROLLERS
This Carbon Fiber Pneumatic Lug Shaft is
recommended for unwind and rewind applications
when using cores.
It will increase productivity when compared to
existing steel shafts it has the advantage of being
lighter in weight, can be carried by a single
operator without assistance, and run at higher
critical speed.
The shaft body is made of high strength carbon
fiber, fabricated through filament winding
technology.
The shaft has two important features:
the lug seats are made of new technology
high-strength steel designed to avoid any
possibility of surface cracking, and to distribute
the load uniformly over the whole carbon section.
Idler carbon fiber rollers with a wide range of
surface treatments.
We can provide non-expanding rollers utilising
carbon fiber technology to produce rollers up to:
Maximum diameter of 400 mm.
Maximum length of 6000 mm.
Dimensions and specifications can be designed
to meet customers exact requirements.
The carbon fibre body-ends have a specially
designed steel-carbon interface to safely transmit
the torque through the steel journal ends.
We provide expanding carbon fiber shafts to
suit cores of a maximum 400 mm diameter and
up to 6000 mm in lenght.
PULTRUSION/COMPOSITE
SHAFT
We have developed, with the help of our American affiliate
Goldenrod Corporation an extremely rigid, lightweight carbon
fiber shaft in the easy-to-use Multiple Bladder design.
Long high modulus carbon fiber's, wetted with epoxy, are
kept straight and pulled through voids in the aluminium profile.
After drying, the fiber's become set at zero degrees, resulting
in an extremely lightweight air shaft with the rigidity of steel.
The carbon is completely protected on all sides by aluminium
and cannot be cut into or damaged.
Due to its low inertia, the shafts can quickly accelerate and
run at very high speeds that are unapproachable with steel or
even wound carbon lug models.
The pultrusion design is available in 3, 4, 5, 6, and 6,75
diameters.
Always safe and always reliable!
