Suzdal gem of Russia's Golden Ring
Transcript of Suzdal gem of Russia's Golden Ring
Since the Middle Ages, the Russian zone Northeast of Moscow
known as "The Golden Ring" was chosen by the Princes for the
richness of its land and its strategic geographical position. Thus it
is a unique historical and cultural cradle.
The city of Suzdal, part of the Golden Ring of Russia., appears for
the first time in history in the year 1024. It was for several centuries
the capital of Russian principalities. Founded in the 11th century,
the Principality of Muscovy, was able to emerge from over 200 years
of Mongol domination (13th-15th centuries) and to gradually
conquer and absorb surrounding principalities.
Untouched by industrialization, Suzdal retains its authenticity
and allows for the experience of a Russia of yesteryear .
The town has retained a rural soul.
