Project 1018Women’s Action against Climate Change and Hunger

Completed in November 2017, ACWW Project 1018 brought safe water and sanitation facilities to women and families in barrios which lacked these facilities and as a result, the beneficiaries are enjoying better health, nutrition and income. Two rainwater harvesters (10,000 litres each) were constructed, serving 311 households. 50 latrines have also been constructed for women-led households. Training in the use and care of these has been provided, although the rainwater harvesters need very little care and should last for at least 20 years. Backyard gardens have been established and 220 women and their families are participating in home gardening. They have been trained to grow vegetables and fruit using local seed varieties.
