This year, the total quantity of hazardouswaste disposed was 13,045 tons, a

significant reduction of 37% over FY2008-09.

This decline was on account of a largeproportion of hazardous waste beingupcycled to cement companies as analternative fuel.

At Dr. Reddy's, refining our processes tominimise the impact on the environmentranks high on our list of priorities. Our effortsare focused on being more eco-efficientand reducing our existing carbon footprint.

The increase in absolute GHG emissions for FY 2009-10 was on account of theexpansion of our FTO 3 and FTO 6 units.

The increased fuel usage due to power

outages also contributed to the rise inemissions. The silver lining to the emissioncloud was that the rate of increase hascome down from 17% last year to 11% thisyear.
