PackLink Sustainable Project Collaboration at NC State

Page 12: SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE...Sustainability Initiative • Bring innovators and thought leaders to campus to share expertise and engage with the community • Engage students on experiential

What is PackLink?

• Using the knowledge and resources on our campus to forward sustainability

• Program to help create collaboration for sustainability projects and initiatives

• Provides an online connection portal for both project hosts and those seeking a project

• Creates formalized networking and tracks success

Page 13: SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE...Sustainability Initiative • Bring innovators and thought leaders to campus to share expertise and engage with the community • Engage students on experiential

PackLink possibilities

• Informal networking and connections around sustainability efforts are made every day

• The long term vision for PackLink is to be the primary connection point for current and ongoing sustainability related projects

• Ideally it will be an interactive tool that can be utilized by students, faculty, staff and campus partners

• Eventually, we also plan to add the ability to assess the outcome/impact of projects and connections

Page 14: SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE...Sustainability Initiative • Bring innovators and thought leaders to campus to share expertise and engage with the community • Engage students on experiential

How PackLink works

• The initial phase of PackLink focuses on student and class projects

• Campus departments enter a project through an online form

• Project details include a description, timeframe, needs and contact information

• Students looking for opportunities can view the projects and reach out to the contact for more information

Presentation Notes
Student Success NC State must ensure students make timely progress toward a degree. NC State must provide educational opportunities that inspire students to lead, to serve, to challenge, to take responsibility, to build problem-solving skills, and to engage with complex problems. Faculty & Infrastructure Investment NC State must build both its tenured and tenure-track faculty and its research infrastructure. Research Solutions NC State’s history and mission call for the university to address the major challenges that confront the world. Addressing complex problems with many disciplinary aspects requires assembling teams of scholars with varied skills and diverse perspectives. Organizational Improvements An excellent university is pervasively excellent. The standard of excellence applies to all NC State faculty and staff and to all departments, institutes, centers, and units. Achieving excellence requires constant attention, self-assessment, inclusion, and the courage to change and adapt. Partnerships & Outreach NC State’s reach has expanded beyond borders and around the world. NC State must be locally responsive to the needs of the community and the state while being globally engaged in solving the grand challenges facing our our world.
