The Hamilton School District received the high-est ranking possible on the recent report cards issuedby the State Department of Public Instruction.

The report cards, which were made public Sept.16, judge districts and individual schools in fourareas: Student achievement in reading and math, stu-dent growth in reading and math, closing gaps inreading, math and graduation rates, and on trackand post secondary readiness. Districts are scoredbased on four designations, with significantlyexceeds expectations the highest and exceeds

expectations the second highest. As a district, Hamilton was listed in the signifi-cantly exceeds expectations category. Four schools Lannon, Marcy and Woodside elementary schoolsand Hamilton High School were ranked in thehighest category while Maple Elementary Schooland Templeton Middle School were ranked in theexceeds expectations category.

In a statement issued on the state report cards,Hamilton officials noted that the district was one ofonly five K-12 districts statewide to receive the sig-nificantly exceeds expectations designation.

"Being among the top five K-12 school districts inWisconsin is a great accomplishment," HamiltonSuperintendent Kathleen Cooke, Ph.D, said in astatement. "It is a credit to staff members, familiesand community members who have high expecta-tions for Hamilton students and support what it takes
