The Sussex Village Board last week approved astorm water repair project near the intersection ofBowling Green Street and Champeny Road.

During the Sept. 9 Village Board meeting, TrusteeTim Dietrich said flooding "has been a problem for quiteawhile." Dietrich said one of the problems is that the lat-erals that go under pavement are underneath privateproperty and the village has not had approval to go onthe property to address the problem.

Dietrich said the village did get a permanent ease-ment to address the problem and staff has examinedseveral options. While the village could spent up to

$75,000, Dietrich said it was recommended that staffmake repairs at a cost of $3,500. That would involverepairing damaged pipe and installing rip rap at thesewer outflow to prevent erosion. Also, pipe cleaningwill be done by Visu-Sewer as part of the project.

Village President Greg Goetz said a resident cameto a recent committee and complained of "a lake" infront of her house. Goetz told the resident that itemwould be on the board agenda.

In another matter, the board approved repairs toRaw Sewage Pump #1 at the village's Waste WaterTreatment Plan. The repairs will cost $59,750, whichwas chosen over the option of purchasing a new pumpat a cost of $128,713.

Salt purchase finalized: The board approved abase contract with Waukesha County for the purchaseof salt at $8.14 per ton. The village is purchasing 1800tons with 450 tons in reserve, the same as last winter. The base amount will be $124,938 while the reserve

Dear Dr. Winter, I have a slight under-bite,otherwise, my teeth are actually quite straight.I had braces on my top teeth at a young age

and as I grew up my under-bite worsened. Thisunder-bite has resulted in some unnatural wearand chipping on a couple of my top teeth. Doyou have any non-surgery solutions available?

Dear Ted, there are many options for fixingunderbites that are non-surgical but I cannotcomment on your options until I havecompleted an examination and x-ray visit.Sometimes orthodontics can correct yourproblem other times crowns can be used tochange your bite. So surgery is always the lastoption considered. It is important toremember that once significant wear andchipping has occurred, the teeth that causedthis chipping also need to be corrected torecover the space that was lost from these teetherupting in to the chipped areas.

Dear Dr. Winter, I had a tooth break at thegumline. I really dont want a bridge as I haveheard they have to shave down the other teeth

and those teeth will be weakened. I am alsoconcerned that I might need bone grafting tohave an implant. What is your opinion aboutplacing implants the same day the tooth comesout? Can this help me avoid a bone graft?

Dear John, the ability to place an implant theday the tooth is removed is dependent onseveral factors. First the remaining boneshould be intact and thicker than 1.5 mm sothat there is good blood supply to fill in thegap between the implant and the remainingtooth socket. Next there should be goodstabilization of the implant and if it can not beplaced with good insertion torque, it may bebetter to graft the socket and come back in 3months to place the implant after bone fill hasoccurred. The literature supports both means

of placing implants but it is still deupon clinician skill, bone quality and and cosmetic expectations of the pati
