The Pre-tcia.J. Housing Units are run under the co ncept of Direct Supervi

sion. Direct Supervision is a combination of Marulgement, Opcratioo.al. Philosophies. Design Fcatmcs and Staff Training. The key concept ts placing the officers within tb.e housing units in coastac.t and direct conc:ict with the inmates. Staff members arc proactive in addressing the needs and c:onccms ntbcr than reacting on only the negative behavior of the inmates. Officers in these units are tn charge of the inmates in che housing uruc. This control is noc challenged or shued with inmates or other staff membecs. The
