Happy Birthday to Eloise V. Bright, who celebrated her 90th birthday withfamily and friends on Saturday, May22, 2010 at Club Meade (formerly Ft.Meade Off icer’s Club). The photo atleft is of Mrs. Bright being escortedinto the event by her son, TerrenceBright. In lieu of gifts, attendees wereasked to make a donation to theSusanna Wesley House in honor of herbirthday. Donations totaling $645 weremade by her friends and family: AnnaBlack, Margaret Brown, Yolande

Dickerson, Daisy DuBose, Julia Freeman & Clementine Carter,Dorothy Green, Samuel H. & Jacqueline Harris, ColumbusHoward & Gennifer Taylor, Emma Jordan, Judith Lopez, AndreaMontague, Geraldine Smith, Lucille Thomas, Evelyn Thompson,Helen Tilghman, Andrea Turner, Mr. & Mrs. Clarence EdwardVaughn, Dorothy Weddington, and Esther White.

Mrs. Bright is a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church(Glen Burnie) and is an active member of the United MethodistWomen (UMW). She served as her UMW unit’s representative andcommunications liason to Susanna Wesley House, which motivatedher to become more involved after retirement. When health allowed, she supported SWH fundraising projects, giving not only of her time, but also f inancially. Look for her name on the Donor Wall the nexttime you visit!

Mrs. Bright’s involvement in Susanna Wesley House inspired herdaughter, Jamarri Bright, to volunteer also. Ms. Bright currently is amember of the SWH Finance Committee.

The Board of Directors extends its sincere thanks to the PattersonMemorial Association for their generosity in awarding a $13,000 grantto replace the back door and several leaky windows. This project willmake SWH a safer and more comfortable home for the women andchildren who live here. It will also provide a greater degree of energyeff iciency which we anticipate will reduce our energy consumptionand carbon footprint.

Fourteen new windows were installed on July 27/28 and a new backdoor will be here shortly. We are excited to have these upgrades inplace before the cold weather begins!
