Many candidates show their interests to join CAT during the visit, but fail to come again because they need to wait few months before they finish their CC.
Two potential members, Sherry and Dora from 1st Zhangjiang Bilingual TMC, almost apply for the membership in August, but didn’t come to present their C8, C9 and C10 – never come again (although we’ve invited)

CC is a target for most members. After they accomplish CC, they would rather:
Not participate in TM actively (no more AC)
Stay in home club and relax
Yet, CAT can help:
Give better evaluation to accomplish CC
Show them the Demo and benefit to continue AC
China Advanced Toastmasters is the home of
advanced speaking in China
CAT focuses on those who pursue excellence
and even mastery in communication skills
Samuel Jones, DTM on July 3, 2008 (See page 5 of your CAT PAW book)
Confident, visionary and nervous was how I felt when we launched the China Advanced Toastmasters. It was exciting to be the first advanced speaking club to serve the Toastmasters community in Shanghai.
The time “cost” of being a CC+ meant that our members were all attending and leading other clubs and had little discretionary time, therefore recruiting members was slow and were not able to meet our membership goals the first year
“Advanced” is an attitude Not a result, but a process
Learn and improve by continuous practice
“Advanced” is a standard Not by title, but by actions
Good speech to inspire and influence others
Practical evaluation to help others grow
Willing to compete in contest and exchange ideas
Dynamic, diversified and desirable members
Professional and entertaining speeches and
programs
Practical and effective evaluation for people to grow
Relax and friendly atmosphere
Achieve 9 of 10 goals President's Distinguished Club Membership Requirement: At year-end a Club must have at
least 20 members, or net growth of at least five new members
CAT can meet 9 of 10 goals, Yet not meet the membership
requirement – less than 20 members
1. First Impressions
2. New Member Orientations
3. Fellowship, Variety and Communication
4. Program Planning and Meeting Organization
5. Membership Strength
Club has 20 or more members
6. Recognizing Accomplishments
1. Accomplish 6 Manual speeches of Competent Communicator
2. Attend CAT meeting twice and deliver one TT speech
3. Pass the interview from VPE and VPM (See “ACTION PLAN” for detail)
Reason
More candidate who are eager to grow
Know CAT better to see if they really want to joint CAT. Show their commitment
Test the English level, Set goal (CC to DTM), and confirm the commitment
Dual member
Can get better evaluation from advanced speakers Can contribute CC to current club Can bring what you’ve learned from CAT to your current club See the Advanced Manual Speech and be ready to start AC
