Susan G. Komen Chattanooga Our visison is a world without breast cancer We Live here. We Race here. We Save Lives here. Because of you and your charitable contributions and participation in raising funds, we are so much closer. Thank you so much for your contribution! You are appreciated! We do not know how much it meant to you but to some of us it meant everything. On behalf of everyone your contribution has helped and provided for, Komen would like express our deepest gratitude to you. This year our campaign slogan was, “We save lives here.” On race day it’s wonderful to see the crowd march down the streets of downtown. Each person is connected in some way to breast cancer through family or personal experience. It is impossible to look at the crowd and not see the departed or those currently fighting for their lives.People often don’t understand what their contribution means. It means help- ing someone fight for their life. Helping someone to win the fight for their life. When my warning sign presented itself, the first place I thought of for receiving additional information about my warning sign was Susan G. Komen Chattanooga. Although I had a small understanding of what to be aware of, I always thought breast cancer presented itself in the form of a lump. When my warning sign presented itself in a different form, the thought of breast cancer never crossed my mind because I have no family history of the disease and I am in my 20s. I did not have any insurance at the time of my breast cancer diagnosis. However, because of your charitable contribution that you made to Susan G. Komen Chattanooga I was able to have all my testing done which discovered my breast cancer at a very early stage. Two surgeries later, I am six months cancer free and I feel that going through my own breast cancer journey has brought me closer to God. I always say to myself my pain is not in vain, I am going to use my story to bring awareness about early detection and to support others who are newly diagnosed or cur- rently going through their breast cancer journey. So I would like to take this opportunity to say thank for your generous donation! Fatima A. Henderson 6 month Breast Cancer Survivor
