Principles Shaping Our Development Agenda1. Maximize instructional time.
2. Establish reasonable testing times.
3. Provide transparent connections between ACT’s College Readiness Standards and the Common Core State Standards.
4. Leverage technology: enhance student engagement, produce more meaningful results, and share results in a timely fashion.
5. Increase the emphasis on evidence-centered design.
6. Include science as a critical content area.
7. Reflect the reality that there are multiple dimensions of readiness and success (validated by research)

• 13 states tested all of their students with the ACT in the 13-14 school year.
– 6 more states will join for the 14-15 school yr
• The ACT was administered online for the first time in Spring 2014—4,000
students tested.• 1 million ACT Aspire tests were taken in
Spring 2014

• 129,676 students in 2014 Grad Class took The ACT.
• Access: – 38% overall increase in ACT-tested graduates
in LA since 2010.
– 27% of Louisiana’s ACT-tested graduates were first-generation students whose parents did not enroll in postsecondary education.
