High levels of Sulphur and Nitrogen, leading to acid rain.

Primary:- Chemical

compounds/Medicine (counteracts consequences of air, but only for as short period of time, health would lower slower or increase health slightly)

Secondary:- Injection (counteracts

consequences of nitrogen and sulfur, but only for as short period of time, health would lower slower or increase health slightly)

Unit 4 PO2 P4 - Organising Digital WorkplaceEssential Palettes For Concept Art

The digital tools selection bar is located on the left side of the screen and can be pulled away and moved by the user to suit their needs. This bar contains all of the tools that are most likely to be used and consist of mostly brush and shape based tools such as Crop, Eyedropper and Lasso.

The brush and brush presets can be accessed through the windows tab at the top then selecting ‘brush’. This allows the user to select brush width, type and hardness which can all be manipulated to suit the user.

Unit 4 PO2 P4 - Organising Digital WorkplaceWindow Positioning

All separate documents that are open in Photoshop at a time are accessible at the top of the screen under the basic options. This allows the user to easily and quickly navigate between all their projects at once. Each window can be pulled away from the top bar and positioned elsewhere in the workplace. This may be useful to a user if they wanted to see both a project and a reference image at once instead of having to swap between two windows.

Unit 4 PO2 P4 - Organising Digital WorkplaceDocument Set Up

On the right hand side users can set the width and height in pixels, centimeters or inches etc of their document. They can also set the resolution and the orientation (either landscape or portrait).

The top bar allows users to bring up recently viewed projects or recently used presets. Moreover using Ctrl + N users can easily bring up the document set up preset selection sizes.

Document size can also be edited after its creation. By clicking ‘image’ and going down to ‘Image Size’ and ‘Canvas Size’ users can easily edit documents throughout working on them.

Unit 4 PO2 P5 - Basic Digital ToolsMove Tool (V) - Used to move layers and selections within Photoshop.

Lasso Tool (L) - Allows the user to draw out a freeform selection around an object.

Quick selection Tool (W) - Allows the user to quickly make a selection by painting over the wanted area.

Magic Wand Tool (W) - Selects areas of the same colour, changing the ‘Tolerance’ value will change the range of colours that will be selected.

Crop Tool (C) - Quickly deletes unwanted areas of an image within Photoshop.

Slice Tool (C) - Divides the image into smaller pieces that can be exported and manipulated separately.

Eyedropper Tool (I) - Allows a user to sample colours from an image. The option ‘Increase sample size’ in the options bar allows for a better representation of a colour.

Brush Tool (B) - This is Photoshopped main painting tool. It is used to draw/paint on a layer or layer mask. Opacity, size and hardness cal all be manipulated by the user to get the desired effect.

Pencil Tool (B) - Similar to the Brush tool but only allows the user to draw hard edges.

Eraser Tool (E) - Permanently erases pixels on the layer selected.

Colour Replacement Tool (B) - Easily replace the color of an object with another.

Clone Stamp Tool (S) - A basic retouching tool, takes pixels from an area of an image and replaces the pieces of another area with them.

Unit 4 PO2 M3 - Advantages Of Digital Painting Tool SetsDigital Colour Palettes

Digital colour pallets allow user to access a spectrum of color, tone and highlights. This is not not only useful because it allows the user access to any colour they want, it also allows for quick access and change from already selected colours. This is much more beneficial than traditional art because there is no mess from paint or pens but you don't have to store all of the materials either.

Unlike the colour picker, colour swatches are preset colours that can be added to by the user. This can be useful to the user because it allows for quick selection of their most used colours instead of having to find it again on the colour picker.

Unit 4 PO2 M3 - Advantages Of Digital Painting Tool SetsWorking With Layers

Layers allow the user to isolate and manipulate areas of a project separately. Layers can be brought forward or pushed back be moving them around on the layers tab and the eye symbol on the left will make the layers visible or invisible. Unlike traditional work, layers can be reorganised or deleted to change the piece, something that is much more difficult and time consuming when working on paper. Layers can also be locked to stop the user editing things that they are already happy with.

Unit 4 PO2 M3 - Advantages Of Digital Painting Tool SetsDigital Paint Brushes

Digital paint brushed give the user access to a wide variety of different brush types. Some of these brushes are basic drawing tools or pen strokes however others allow the user to easily replicate the look of paint brushes. Users are also able to create their own brushes to fit their own needs and uses. This is more advantageous over the use of traditional methods because there is no need to store, buy and maintain brushes. Moreover the ability to create your own brushes makes it more customisable.

Unit 4 PO2 P6 - Digital Palettes When Creating Digital UI DesignsEraser

The eraser tool was used to edit my UI design because it allowed me to manually delete parts and be more precise. For example to get the dirt exactly where i wanted it i would have to erase around certain pieces such as the buttons and screens.

Making Adjustments

I made adjustments to my UI design by using the “add”, “multiply” and “opacity” options. The add option creates a much brighter look to a colour and when lowering the opacity on it can create a good impression of light, multiply however creates a darker look to a colour and when the opacity is lowered on it creates the look of shadows.

Order Of Layers

The order of layers was important in keeping everything organised. I used this to keep specific pieces apart (such as the screen and main body) so if I needed to edit one section of it i wouldn't have to edit the whole thing. Moreover the order of layers is organised in a way as to minimise the amount of erasing I would have to do, this was also done by using the clipping feature so when i added the dirt and rust i would only draw in that specific areas.

Unit 4 PO2 P7 - Concept Art AnalysisThe composition of the piece consists of the main focus, the “general industries” building and the train, both being located near the top of the image. However the ground and the tracks leading to them both dominates the lower portion of the image.

The perspective of the piece is far away and as if you were standing on the ground taking the photo. This created a sense of depth and scale, the tracks get closer together the further away they go. This perspective nicely frames the Building in the background.

The proportions of the piece are slightly exaggerated due to the style it is drawn in, this can be seen more prominently on the tracks. However overall its scale is fairly realistic and altogether this emphasises the scale of the environment compared to the viewer.

The use of a monochromatic colour palette is extremely effective and visually appealing, as are the clean lines and flat colour created using digital software. Despite its simplicity it easily conveys how empty the surrounding land is around the building and train. This is also emphasised with the placement of the land taking up most of the space on the image, instead of just zooming in on the train and building.

Page 12: Survival Project - WordPress.comSurvival Project Lucy Rodham. High levels of Sulphur and Nitrogen, leading to acid rain. Primary: - Chemical compounds/Medicine (counteracts consequences

Unit 4 PO2 P7 - Concept Art AnalysisThe composition of the piece consists of the crashed ship in the center of the image and a small robot near the bottom. It is surrounded by a desolate wasteland and fire. The image has a muted colour palette consisting of mostly shades of dark blue/gray, this makes the yellow in the fire look much more striking.

The scene is shot at a wide angle to showcase a large amount of the environment. This gives the impression of there being a large amount of empty space and draws the eye to focus on the vehicle in the middle.

The proportions in the image are realistic however the large scale of the machinery is emphasised by the realistic proportions of everything else. The wide scale the image was drawn at also exaggerates the size and emptiness of the rest of the land, the small robot seen at the bottom looks small compared to its surroundings.

The environment looks to have been painted digitally using a brush tool, this makes the overall style look smooth but unfocused. We can see the main shaped and detailed that the artist wants us to see however it lacks more realistic detail. The flames look to have also been created using the same brush as the rest of the scene however they contain much more striking colours and may have used the “add” effect to make them look as if they are glowing.

Page 14: Survival Project - WordPress.comSurvival Project Lucy Rodham. High levels of Sulphur and Nitrogen, leading to acid rain. Primary: - Chemical compounds/Medicine (counteracts consequences

Unit 10 PO1 (M1)The players health reduced because of toxicity in the air, high levels of sulphur and nitrogen from the build up of junk on the island irritates the skin, throat and makes it harder to breath. Slowly draining the health of those exposed. When obtaining the bottle the players health will increase because the medicine inside is a temporary solution to the irritation caused by the chemicals, allowing the player to be able to survive for longer.

Walk speed gets slower as the health of the player reduces. This is because the player becomes tired the more they are exposed to the environment. Slowly the chemicals start to take a toll on the body causing it to become more and more difficult to continue until you can no longer go any further. Walk speed increases temporarily when the bottle is obtained because the fatigue and irritation caused by the chemicals in the air are cured in the short term.

Jump height reduces as the players health goes down. This is because as the chemicals start to affect the body and the player starts to get tired, naturally you wouldn't have the energy to jump as high as when you weren't affected at all. Jump speed increases when the bottle is obtained because

Unit 10 PO1 (P1)

Page 16: Survival Project - WordPress.comSurvival Project Lucy Rodham. High levels of Sulphur and Nitrogen, leading to acid rain. Primary: - Chemical compounds/Medicine (counteracts consequences

Unit 10 PO1 (P2)At the start of the game both values for the items bottle and needle are set to 0, the inventory and map are not shown on screen, first person camera is turned on and your health is set to 100.

The players health goes down by 0.01 and is shown on screen with 0 numbers after the decimal point (“F0”). The walkspeed of the player is also 10% of the players health.

If key 1 or 2 is pressed the inventory or map will be brought up and if key 3 is pressed they will close. Whenever any of these menus are brought up first person controls will be turned off.

When objects named “Bottle” and “Needle” are touched by the player +1 is added to the corresponding counters in the inventory.

Page 17: Survival Project - WordPress.comSurvival Project Lucy Rodham. High levels of Sulphur and Nitrogen, leading to acid rain. Primary: - Chemical compounds/Medicine (counteracts consequences

Unit 10 PO1 (P3)This is the player’s health bar which is the aspect of the character that changes. It starts off at 100/100 HP when the game is first loaded up however overtime it decreases affecting and lowering the speed and jump height of the player until it hits 0 where the player can't move at all making it a game over. This level of health can then be brought back up by the player walking around and finding items that will increase their health.

This part of the code controles the characters health shown in the screenshots. The players health starts at 100 and continuously goes down by 0.01 controlled by the command “HealthNumber -= 0.01f;”, the input “F0” then causes the value that shows up on screen to only show as a round number without any numbers after the decimal point.

Page 18: Survival Project - WordPress.comSurvival Project Lucy Rodham. High levels of Sulphur and Nitrogen, leading to acid rain. Primary: - Chemical compounds/Medicine (counteracts consequences

Unit 10 PO1 (M2)In this part of the code the attribute which changes as a result of pickups is the character's health which effects the characters walk speed and jump height. As the item is picked up the health increases restoring it by 20 each time as shown in the line “HealthNumber += 20;” which cause the players health to increase by 20 whenever they pick up a bottle or needle. This means that as the players health goes down they have the ability to prevent the effects of their health decreasing like walking slower by finding these items.

Another attribute that changes is the amount of each pick up in the inventory, as the item is picked up the score in the inventory goes up by 1 each time.
