What was the research problem?

Our client - a leading research consultancy, approached Borderless Access to help understand the IT budgets and preferences of IT leaders across BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, and China) nations, Australia & New Zealand. The target audience comprised managers who were the decision makers for their company’s technology requirements.

The requirements also extended to IT Leaders/professionals/decision makers working for a company with an employee size between 200-999 & 1000 and to have knowledge of their IT budgets and the company’s products/services planned to be purchased by the company for the whole year.

What were the challenges?

As the client’s requirements were specific, there were quite a few compelling challenges from the inception of the study.Targeting specific respondents from larger enterprises and narrowing them down to specific employee size wasn’t straightforward.

Convincing Respondents to share their company’s IT budgets (Estimates) wasn’t easy. Failing to share the data would lead termination of the respondent in taking up the survey. Hence, would impact the overall incidence rate.

The length of the interview was 35 minutes and the challenge was to control dropout ratesManaging quotas by the level of employees and providing a decent mix by job-titles was a challenging task.

How did Borderless Access solve the problem? With over a decade’s experience in aligning our expertise with some of the leading global brands, we were successful in gathering responses. The sample was deployed to our already identified target group of mid-senior level decision makers. As the target audience required targeting niche DMs from companies having 1000+ employees as well, we adopted a unique approach wherein we sent a SMS alert to our panelists’ mobile phones requesting them to take the survey, thereby boosting the response rate within our available DM panel.

We approached our respondents with a mix of incentives, which would work the best for this type of audience
