100% of the respondents said that they enjoyed the video and they would
watch it again. This implies that the video was engaging and helped to
promote the song/artist.
90% of people said that the video held their attention. This
suggests that our combination of storyline, camera work, editing
and mise en scene was effective in creating an emotionally
engaging and interesting piece.
The majority of my respondents were from the 18-24 age range. This is
generally the target audience for our music video. By receiving feedback from
this demographic we can see whether we have been successful in creating a
video that will appeal to people of this age. This will confirm whether we have
effectively understood the needs and wants of our target market or not.
55% of respondents were actually male. Our music video wasnt
particularly aimed at men due to the large focus on the romantic
story line and damsel in distress character type. However it will be
very interesting to see how they felt about the music video and
whether it appeals to both genders.

The respondents recognised
some of our key themes within
the video including love,
emotionally provoking imagery,
large use of outdoor space and
strong visuals. This shows thatwe have, to an extent, achieved
what we hoped. Several
mentioned that they liked the
colours throughout the video,
we intended to use lots of
natural, fresh organic colourings
for the outside scenes andwarm, cosy, rustic colourings for
the indoor scenes. The fact that
the audience picked this out as a
feature they liked shows that
using natural, bright and warm
colours is picked up on and
helps to make media products
visually pleasing. One
respondent commented on how
the choice of imagery was
relevant to the story and kept
within the theme. This shows
that we created a piece witheffective continuity.
One respondent commented on the song. This shows that our video
effectively promotes the track and compliments it well. This could
make the respondents want to find out more about the artist and
listen to other songs by them. This suggests that we were successful inselling the artist.

I asked this question to gain an
understanding of how the audience
viewed the female protagonist. This
would inform me whether our
intentions for her representation were
successful or not. In general the
responses all linked well with how we
wanted the protagonist to be
perceived. Many agreed that she was
a dreamy character which fits in with
our themes of love, romance and the
fairy tale like feel of the story line. The
innocence that we wanted to portray
was well received and recognised by
the audience. This shows that ourintentions for her costume, make up
and characterisation worked well in
correlation with the location, lighting
and track to suggest her innocence.
The fact respondents have described
her as lost, confused and intrigued
suggests how our incorporation of
arrows has helped to create the
feeling of a journey of self discovery
lead by her optimism and confusion.
Her confusion and the fact she is
intrigued suggests an adventurous and
hopeful nature which adds depth to
the story line.
The fact the respondents felt that our protagonist was positive, hopeful,
determined and optimistic shows how we have slightly challenged the
stereotype that women are completely reliant on men to be happy. The fact
that she goes out to find what will make her happy has been recognised by the
audience which suggests our intentions were successful in the sense of
representation of women.

58% of the respondents said that the storyline
was their favourite feature of the music video.
This suggests that we were successful in creating
a strong narrative that was still engaging even
without the performance element that is
common to music videos. 42% recognised the
editing and location as an aspect they liked most. This implies that the location helped to create
visually pleasing imagery and strengthened the
story. 28% said they liked the camera work,
lighting and characters. All of these aspects
helped to make the piece engaging and
aesthetically pleasing for the audience. O%
recognised costume or props as an aspect that
they particularly liked. This is likely due to thefact the costumes werent anything special, they
were just normal, every day clothes. If I was to
change anything about the process I would have
taken more time over choosing costumes to
ensure that they complimented the other aspects
of the music video. However the normal day to
day clothes created a naturalistic interpretationof your average girl. There wasnt really any
obvious props used either, apart from the
belongings in the bedroom that again created a
naturalistic setting for the female protagonist.
However they werent particularly show
stopping, they were quite subtle and so Im not
surprised they weren't recognised as a favourite
aspect.

Several respondents agreed that
the camera work and editing was
good but rushed in places. I would
agree with this response as
looking back on the finished
product, some shots did look tooquick making it difficult to focus
on what is happening. Particularly
in the forest section. To improve
this we would elongate some
shots to ensure smooth
transitions between the footage.
The audience recognised the
different shot types and styles
which suggests that our piece
appeared dynamic and
interesting. One respondent said
they liked that the camera work
and editing was in directcorrelation with the storyline. This
suggests that our piece was quite
fluid in relation to continuity
between camera work/editing
and the story line helping them to
compliment each other.

Several agreed that the main
weakness of our music video was that
some shots were too rushed which
made the video appear jumpy. To
improve this we would elongate
shots, use slower fades to preventtransitions looking too rushed or
jumpy. I feel that some of the focus
pulls were lost in editing as to make
the footage in time with the music I
think some of these were cut of too
soon. Therefore some images would
have looked out of focus for no
reason. To improve on this we wouldensure that either focus pulls are
faster and smoother or are not cut too
short. I agree that the male characters
costume could be improved, if I was
to shoot the video again I would take
more consideration over his costume
to help create strongercharacterisation. This in turn may
have helped to distinguish the first
relationship more. In hind sight and
after analysing the feedback I feel
more footage should have been
included of the first relationship in the
form of a flashback. This would help
to make the relationship clearer.

Overall, from my audience feedback, I have learned that the editing and camera
work could be improved to make the video smoother and less jumpy. Elongating
shots and using slower transitions would help to prevent this in future. This way,the music video would be more aesthetically pleasing and easy to watch. My
audience feedback has informed me that our intentions of character
representation and story line were achieved and the audience enjoyed these
aspects. The feedback also shows that the location and lighting really
accentuated the story line and video making it more appealing and engaging. The
fact that our music video didnt feature a performance element didnt come up as
a problem which implies that our narrative was strong enough to carry the music
video through without featuring a performance.
