Two of the greatest outdooradventures in the world beginin Fannin County. Both theAppalachian and BentonMacKaye Trails start at the topof Springer Mountain. Thereare over 300 miles of hikingtrails in the area, includingshort trails suitable for begin-ning hikers and families. Try this hike to experience theAppalachian Trail and seebeautiful Long Creek Falls.

Appalachian Trail Hike to Long Creek Falls: From BlueRidge, go south on Aska Road 13.5 miles to end. Turnright onto Newport Road, go 4.5 miles to end. Turn leftonto Doublehead Gap Road and continue on this roadabout .8 miles to intersection with dirt-gravel USFSRoad 58 intersectingsharply from right.Turn onto FS 58 andcontinue into forestand uphill 5.3 miles toThree Forks. The park-ing area is on theright at NoontootlaCreek, a beautifultrout stream. The trailto Long Creek Falls ison the left.
