    Answer: Princess Diana's death.

    Question: How come?

Answer: An English princess with an Egyptian boyfriend

crashes in a French tunnel, driving a German car with aDutch engine, driven by a Belgian who was drunk onScottish whiskey, followed closely by Italian Paparazzi,on Japanese motorcycles, treated by an Americandoctor, using Brazilian medicines! And this is sent toyou by an American, using Bill Gates' technology Which

he enjoyed stealing from the Japanese. And you areprobably reading this on one of the IBM clones that useTaiwanese-made chips, and Korean-made monitors, assembled by Bangladeshi workers in a Singapore plant, transported by lorries driven by Indians, hijacked byIndonesians, unloaded by Sicilian longshoremen, trucked by Mexican illegal aliens, and finally sold to you.

The main impact of globalisation on business ethicsis the reinforcement of culturaldifferences/diversity.

Cultural diversity imposes a challenge onorganisations to deal with different ethical andmoral standards around the world.

This means that should companies adopt thestandards of the country with which they aredoing business or should they remain faithful tothe standards of their own country?

How can an ethical attitude beadhered to, which, at the same time, sustains the values of theorganisation, respects the values of

each society within which thecompany establishes businessrelations and furnishes a coherent

    global activity?

In order to reach such coherence, global companies

need to seek a kind of ethics that is also global.

SA8000: Focuses on Human Rights & Rights ofChildren

AA1000: Focuses on linking social & ethical issues tostrategic management and operations of theorganisation

Although the above mentioned norms can serve as a

basis for company conduct, but they are notenough.

Companies need to develop its own norms, applicableto its own particular case.
