Through new advancements in dental technology, the days of taking messy tray impressions, waiting weeks for a restoration, and conducting free-hand implant placement are over. In today’s clinical practice, a digital scan, treatment plan, 3D printed surgical guide, and CADCAM provisional can be produced in just a few hours – saving time and improving patient outcomes.

It’s time to redefine your surgical efficiency with faster immediacy solutions compared to traditional workflows.

The future of immediate digital tooth replacement is here.

55% of surveyed consumers said the use of advanced technology was a very important factor when choosing a dental office.1

4 Steps to

Guided Surgery Solutions

Page 3: Surgical EFFICIENCY, redefined

The first step in unlocking innovative pathways to build faster and more efficient workflows starts with a simple scan. Whether you’re taking a digital impression or a CBCT, capturing clinical data in high precision scans can create lasting impressions on your patients.

Replace traditional dental impressions with fast, highly accurate digital data

Allows you to discuss results and treatment options in real time with your patient, which accelerates treatment

Teeth and soft tissue scanned from multiple orientations simultaneously

Ensure quality using a validated, streamlined workflow

WHY?The ability to integrate digital scanning into your workflow is designed to minimize complexities and save additional chairtime when preparing implant and CADCAM prosthetic cases.

HOW?With the Straumann® CARES® digital workflow, you can scan, design, mill and restore chairside – all in just one visit.

The 3Shape TRIOS® Intraoral Scanner from Straumann offers powder-free, highly accurate 3D output and realistic colors. ‘AI Scan’ removes unwanted soft tissue, measures tooth shade and patient jaw movements for fast impression taking, for the best restorative result back from the lab. Patients can discuss results and treatment options with you in real time, relax while a new crown is designed and milled, and walk out with a great-fitting restoration.

When leveraged effectively, this second step in the surgical & prosthetic efficiency process can mean more than just planning software, it can be a practice differentiator.

Implant Planning & Prosthetic Design

Step 2: PLAN

WHY?Implant Planning & Prosthetic Design softwares let you plan precisely and easily, enabling you to achieve predictable results in simple to advanced cases.

Collaboration Online case sharing and communication with other users to ensure all expectations are met

Added Value Support for digital surgical guide design and fabrication

PredictabilityComprehensive planning for successful digital implant placement

Visualization Better patient communication through imaging features

Efficiency Completely seamless digital workflow

coDiagnostiX® offers innovative design technology for producing highly-accurate drill guides. The customizable system can integrate prosthetic and surgical workflows.

The fully integrated CARES® Visual softwareenables users to design a wide range of prosthetic restorations followed by direct transfer to the milling solution of their choice, either in-office, or through a lab or centralized milling center.

CARES® Visual Model Builderlives up to its name by replacing the manual model-building process with an efficient and economical digital design process. The Model Builder module takes you from a digital impression to a watertight articulated model, with faster and more consistent results than manual builds.

HOW?When two or more teams work together to produce something greater than either team could accomplish on their own, Synergy is achieved. The Straumann® Synergy™ workflow opens up a seamless and time-saving communication exchange between the dentist and laboratory. It lets the dentist and lab technician collaboratively plan a case online in real-time, so the prosthetic outcome is achieves accurate placement.

Page 5: Surgical EFFICIENCY, redefined

coDiagnostiX®, CARES® Visual and CARES® Model Builder play together seamlessly. coDiagnostiX® implant planning data can be transferred to CARES® Visual. Both applications provide complete data visualization in order to achieve real-time surgical and restorative case planning.

For 3D printed guided surgery cases, CARES® Model Builder integrates into the Synergy workflow to enable precise positioning of the implant locators on the digital impression. It also creates a 3D printed gingival area and a hole for the analog to be easily snapped into a CARES® 3D printed model.

The “measure twice, cut once” philosophy has never been more true than in the dental industry. The clinical outcome of freehand surgery is often unpredictable. Even when an implant is well placed, the location may not be precise enough to meet optimal prosthodontic requirements. When clinicians want to minimize their risk of errors, they turn to guided surgery.

Preplan the most accurate placement for implants

Get the right prosthetic support

Improve the esthetic emergence profile of the restoration

More easily load immediate provisional restorations6

Reduce surgical time

WHY?An improperly positioned implant can lead to peri-implant disease, soft tissue loss, bone loss, can compromise the esthetic restoration, and can prove difficult to restore.2,3 Greater accuracy can be achieved with the help of implant planning software and 3D printed surgical guides, allowing the clinician to:4,5

HOW?With Straumann® CARES® 3D printing technology, a dental lab or clinician can print two dental implant models and two precision designed surgical guides in about an hour of production time. For a fully digital workflow, you simply scan the patient’s mouth, design and print a guide to indicate where the implants should be placed, mill a provisional, then verify the implant, abutment and crown fit before beginning surgery.

Production of Surgical Guide and Milled Provisional

The demand for 3D printing in dental has multiplied due to advancements in technology that allow clinicians to perform procedures with great accuracy and effectiveness.7

Step 3: PRODUCE...continued

Page 8: Surgical EFFICIENCY, redefined

Today’s patients require high quality esthetic results with a minimum number of appointments. To meet these expectations, seamless collaboration within the treatment team is crucial.

Step 4: RESTORE

Today’s patients require high quality esthetic results with a minimum number of appointments. To meet these expectations, seamless collaboration within the treatment team is crucial.

WHY?With a fully-digital guided surgery workflow, necessary teeth are extracted, dental implants are placed and a temporary restoration (also known as a provisional) are provided to the patient in a single appointment. After the healing phase is complete, the patient returns to have the final restoration placed and can begin life with their new smile. This immediacy solution offers greater precision for the restoration, and the convenience of fewer visits for the patient.

HOW?The Straumann® CARES® digital workflow offers innovative benefits for implant planning and prosthetic rehabilitation. This interdisciplinary team approach increases efficiency between the lab, restoring clinician and patient, and also saves chair time.

Whether a practitioner is restoring at the bone level or the tissue level, Straumann® offers a variety of high-quality, proven implant and prosthetic solutions for all indications.
