A familiar type of polyhedron is a PRISM.2 congruent parallel faces called bases.Lateral Edges: edges joining vertices of the bases Lateral Faces: the faces of the prism that are not bases (parallelograms)

Lateral Surface Area of a prism: sum of the areas of the lateral faces.Total Surface Area of a prism: sum of the prisms lateral area and the area of the two bases.

The right triangular prism can be divided into two triangles (the parallel bases) and three rectangles (the lateral faces).

L.A. = 260 + 280 + 300 = 840 units2

T.A. = 840 + 84 + 84 = 1008 units2
