About CPPE

The Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE) is part of theDivision of Pharmacy and Optometry at the University of Manchester. We arefunded by Health Education England to provide continuing professionaldevelopment opportunities to all pharmacy technicians, pharmacists and pre-registration trainee pharmacists providing NHS services in England.

CPPE programmes – where to start

Health Education England funds the majority of our learning programmes and assessments for pharmacy professionals, so you will not have to pay for these. We provide online and downloadable distance learning programmes and we run a number of face-to-face events each semester in areas across England. These are facilitated by your local pharmacy tutor.

Our website (www.cppe.ac.uk) is the place to start. When you visit the website you will see six pathways on the home page. Our Developing your career pathway has a page for foundation years pharmacy technicians, which lists some useful programmes and a link to the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK’s framework for professional development.

Try our self-study guides to improve your soft skills, which are considered essential to career development, for example, Assertiveness and Managing projects.

Facebook page

Engage with your peers and our tutors on the CPPE pharmacy technicians Facebook page. Join us on: www.facebook.com/pharmtechnician for interactive support.

CPPE can support you in your pharmacytechnician career

Professionalism

As registered healthcare professionals, pharmacy technicians are expected to meet required standards of education, competence and professional conduct, set by the General Pharmaceutical Council. Raise your understanding of what professionalism means for pharmacy technicians by working through our interactive PDF Professionalism.

Bite-sized learning

n Our latest What’s new in BNF? contains ten case studies to help you focus on key changes and recommendations in the British National Formulary.

n Our regular e-challenge quiz (www.cppe.ac.uk/e-challenge) will help you keep up to date with the latest pharmacy news and developments.

n Our fun and interactive online learning environment, theLearningpharmacy.com™, offers bite-sized learning challenges for the whole community pharmacy team.

Consultation skills

We have a range of online and face-to-face programmes to help you develop consultation skills, which are increasingly important for any healthcare professional working in a patient-facing role.

The downloadable distance learning programme forms a core part of the learning for the Consultation Skills for Pharmacy Practice programme and can support you to deliver effective person-centred care.
