What is Supporting People?Supporting People provides funding
for support you may need to helpyou live independently in yourhome. Including:
Older people with support needs
People with mental ill health
People with learning disabilities
People with a physical or sensorydisability
Homeless people/families withsupport needs
People with drug or alcohol problems
Ex offenders or people at riskof offending
Young people with support needs
Teenage parents
People at risk of/or fleeing domestic abuse

What is Housing Related Support?Housing related support is the help you get inyour home that allows you to live independently.
For example:
Help with claiming benefits
and filling in formsHelp to get the skills youneed to live independently
Advising and helping you
to get other services you needProviding a community alarmor a warden service
Help with finding training or a job
Help with making sure you havegas, water and electricity.
Housing related support services do notinclude care or help with personal taskslike bathing and giving medication.

Do I have to pay for my Support?If you receive Housing Benefit youdon’t have to pay housing relatedsupport costs - they are paid foryou by Supporting People.
If you do not receive Housing Benefityou may have to pay for your support,but you can ask about Fairer Charging.This looks at your needs and how
much money you have coming in - to see if you could get help to pay for housing related support costs.
You could also ask for a full Welfare Benefits check.

What do I do If I am unhappy with my service or withSupporting People?
You may be unhappy becauseyour service provider has:
Not treated you fairly or politelyNot done something they shouldhave done or said they would do
Done something badly or treated you or someone else badly.
This is what you should do:
First raise concerns with your support worker, service provider or landlord.They should be able to answer mostof your questions
Ask them for their complaints leaflet
If you are still unhappy then contact the Supporting People Team.
