Supported Experiments Project
Coleg Sir Gâr has undergone a significant transformation since 2010• Teaching and Learning has become the
primary focus of the Governing Body and Senior Management
What we did!
• We engaged the support of consultant Joanne Miles
• Thirty facilitators were identified across the college
• Official launch by the Principal and Directors.• Followed by workshops with facilitators to
identify real, workable projects which would make a difference to their learners and were based on EBTM
What we achieved 12/13!• 40 experiments successfully underway in year one
of the project, with many focusing on literacy.
• Teaching & Learning conference with 250 staff in attendance
• 84% successful completion for 12/13 a raise of 4% on 11/12
• Improved observation data (see next slides)
The greatest outcomes are the experiences of staff and students themselves.
‘Working together has given us opportunities to share and develop our ideas towards improving literacy levels for all learners.’ Peter Ware
‘I really feel that our innovate idea is a fab one, looking forward to actually putting this into practice.’ Justine Gravelle
‘..an excellent opportunity to share good practice with other members of staff..’ Angharrad Holmes (H&B)
‘Innovate is progressing well, enjoying sharing ideas and networking.’ Dawn Williams
The future
Currently we are in year two of Innovate with many projects this year focusing on use of mobile digital technology to enhance learning.
Next Year we have decided that we will focus on stretch & challenge.
