Despite much progress in health care, mothers, newborn babiesand children in developing countries continue to perish due topreventable causes.

The deaths could be avoided through simple interventions and improvements to the care that they receive.New data shows that by focusing on nine key packages of care inthe 20 countries in the world with the highest rates of women’sand children’s mortality, 50% of lives could be saved by 2035.

The issue

The Together We Can campaign seeks to raise awareness of andadvocate for the most critical life saving interventions that will helpmothers, newborns and children survive and thrive worldwide.

Pediatricians, obstetricians, midwives and nurses are uniquely positionedto advocate for and provide the care that is needed. The internationalhealth professionals associations are thus now uniting to raise awarenessof the urgent need to implement these simple changes needed to savemothers and children’s lives.

And we are turning to you for your help.

The aim

You will not remember them, but for the mostof us that pair of hands belonged to a skilledhealth professional helping our mothers ingiving birth safely.

They examined us, cut our umbilical cord, wrapped us in a blanket, lifted us into our mothers arms.

Our life was in their hands.
