Manitowoc Cranes has reached another ma-jor milestone. The 400th Manitowoc 2250 crawler crane built at its factory in Manitowoc, Wis., has just been delivered to Fincan-tieri Marine Groups Bay Shipbuilding division, lo-cated in nearby Sturgeon Bay, Wis.

Matt Borchardt, a re-gional business manager with Manitowoc, said the handover of the 400th Manitowoc 2250 is a mo-mentous occasion for the company. The fact that Bay Shipbuilding was formerly a unit of the Manitowoc Company adds another level of meaning.

This is a very special milestone that reflects the long-term commitment and faith our customers have in Manitowoc Cranes, he said. And its very fitting that the 400th Manitowoc 2250 is going to our former sister company, right in our own backyard.

Thomas Martin, Direc-tor of Purchasing and Fa-cilities at Bay Shipbuilding,

said the company will pri-marily use the 2250 for the ship-repair portion of its business. In all, Bay Ship-building has five Manito-woc crawlers in its fleet, one of which it will retire at the end of this year after more than 30 years in ser-vice.

This is really exciting and for us. It doesnt mat-ter if were taking delivery of the 40th or 400th Manito-woc 2250, we are extremely pleased to add a quality-built asset like this crane to our business, he said. We are big fans of Manitowoc cranes and the service that backs them. Even better is that were purchasing the crane from our neighbors in Wisconsin.

The Manitowoc 2250

offers a 300 USt capacity as standard, which can be increased to 500 US t with the MAX-ER attachment, or increased all the way up to 1,433 USt with a RINGER attachment. The cranes reach can be extended to

over 400 ft with a luffing jib attachment, and FACT connectors and EPIC con-trols make for easy assem-bly and operation on the job site.

Bay Shipbuilding pur-chased the crane from

Milwaukee, Wisc.-based American State Equipment, which also happens to be Groves oldest distribu-tor. It began selling Grove cranes in 1961 and added Manitowoc crawlers to its lineup in 2005. b

KPI-JCI and Astec Mo-bile Screens unveiled its new GT206 track-mounted screening plant during the 2014 National Dealer Con-ference, held Sept. 15-17 in Denver, Colo.

The new GT206 fea-tures a heavy-duty 20 x 6 inclined screen that of-fers more screen area and production potential than other competitive models, according to Patrick Reav-er, Product Development Manager for KPI-JCI and Astec Mobile Screens Illi-nois manufacturing facility.

In addition to the larger screen, the GT206s fines side conveyor features a class-leading discharge height for increased stock-pile capacity. Wide, fixed catwalks allow for stability and additional safety. Easy, ground-level access to all belt tensioners and ground-level grease points provide for easy and safe mainte-nance. Interchangeable top deck options include mesh, bofor bars, punch plate and finger decks.

The addition of a larger track-mounted screen-

ing plant to the Global Track product line pro-vides dealers and end us-ers with a cost-effective, highly productive and mobile option. The Global Track product line fea-tures quarry-duty, time-proven components and was developed to be the perfect rental tool and ideal for operations in remote locations. Minister Tom Beaulieu recently met with federal, provincial and territorial Min-isters of Transportation and Highway Safety to discuss ways to connect rural, north-ern and remote communities.

I noted that the lack of northern infrastructure is a particular challenge and identified the Mackenzie Valley Highway as vital to support growth in the NWT, said Minister Beau-lieu. Our goal includes completing the highway to connect communities, re-duce the cost of living, and promote investment in the NWT. We have already begun construction on the northern-most section from Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk, and we have invested millions of dollars in permanent bridges and grade improvements along the winter route. In-vestments in strategic infra-structure, such as the Mack-enzie Valley Highway from Wrigley to Norman Wells, support the strategic vision agreed to by the Council of Ministers in 2013.

Ministers also approved

regulatory changes to bet-ter harmonize regulations for commercial carriers and made updates to the Na-tional Safety Code. These measures support the safe and efficient movement of cargo to and from the Northwest Territories.

Northern entrepre-neurs need certainty and flexibility for shipping their cargo to suppliers and customers, said Minister Beaulieu. Safe, secure, and reliable transportation services support our econo-my and make our commu-nities more sustainable.

Minister Beaulieu also participated in events to mark the 100th anniversary of the Transportation Asso-ciation of Canada, which included a Northwest Ter-ritories showcase display sharing northern innova-tion in developing infra-structure such as the Deh Cho Bridge and the Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk Highway as well as highlighting eco-nomic development and employment opportunities in the NWT. b

Terex Finlay, based in Omagh, recently hosted a three day dealer con-ference including new product demonstration in London, United Kingdom. The event was held from Tuesday September 30th through Thursday October 2nd, 2014 and attracted over 300 international deal-ers and customers from over 90 countries, world-wide.

A packed program of events included a business conference, live product demonstrations and an end-user open day.

During the conference, held at the Tower Hotel, London, delegates were in-troduced to the Terex Finlay business strategy and key focus areas for growth in the next three years. Key to Ter-ex Finlay growth and expan-sion plans is an aggressive new product initiative and development strategy which will see the business double its current product range in the same time period.

The product demonstra-

tion events were located at OCL Regenerations, Dart-ford. OCL Regenerations are recognized as both experts and leaders in pro-viding sustainable material solutions in the South East and were the perfect hosts during site preparations as well as during the two day site demonstrations.

The onsite demonstra-tions featured twenty re-cent product launches and prototypes of Terex Finlay models due to be released during 2015.

incorporating innovative Spaleck screen box. The dual powered crush-

ers are electrically driven, allowing users to run from electrical supply with the aim of giving significant sav-ings on energy costs. These

machines are also fitted with an onboard gen-set allow-ing the operator to move and use the machine where there is no electric supply giving the flexibility and ver-satility of current standard models. These machines join the 694+ dual powered inclined screener that was launched in 2013.

These product launches means that Terex Finlay can now offer operators a full mobile crushing and screening train that can be powered from mains elec-tric and has the flexibility to run self-powered if required. In applications where a full train is powered by the on-board gen-set configuration the crushers generate suf-ficient energy to enable the operator to run the 694+ dual power inclined screen for free when used in con-junction with the J-1175 dual power jaw crusher.

The third new product launch was the NEW 693+ inclined screen incorpo-rating Spaleck screening technology. This exclusive

screen features a unique flip-flow top and bottom deck guaranteeing first class screening of materials including; wet, moist, dry and mixed materials in-cluding recycling and skip waste, fines material, com-post, waste wood, timber, aggregates and ores.

The official launch of these three machines follows a stringent and strenuous development cycle which has seen the machines tested and proven in chal-lenging and diverse product applications across Western

Kohler Power Systems is launching two compact gaseous-fuelled genera-tors to meet growing de-mand for cost-effective mobile power in new mar-kets. The units can easy switch between optional on-board LP fuel tanks and external LP liquid, LP gas or natural gas fuel

sources. The two models (50 kVA 70 kVA) are part of the industry-lead-ing mobile generator line the company debuted at The Rental Show in Or-lando, Fla., in February.

The 50REXGT and 70REZGT are ideal for the event rental, construc-tion, commercial and

water utility markets, said Steve Zielke, Kohler Power Systems Marketing Manager. The compact gensets are engineered to provide reliable power in any situation from disas-ter recovery and special events to serving as pri-mary power at construc-tion sites and backup

power at water utilities, commercial retail and healthcare facilities.

Propane has become the alternative fuel of choice for an expanding range of residential and commercial applications because of its efficiency and lower emissions. Equipment like Kohlers new mobile generators will give professionals more opportunities to en-joy the benefits of clean, affordable propane on the jobsite.Better for the Environ-ment

The 50REXGT (50kVA) features a 4.3-liter natu-rally aspirated engine while the 70REXGT (70kVA) features a 5.7-li-ter engine. The two mod-els feature optional on-board LP tanks, so users working in areas without a propane gas supply can use on-board fuel and then switch to an on-site supply when available.

The on-board tank is built for a 24-hour run time, while connection to an external LP or natural gas supply offers extend-ed usage.

In addition to being more cost effective than diesel, LP burns cleaner

so these Kohler mobile generators produce fewer toxins and less smog-pro-ducing carbon monoxide. LP also flashed to vapour at atmospheric pressure, which reduces the risk of accidents from fuel spills. The gaseous-fu-elled generators also fea-ture a three-way exhaust catalyst and an electronic isochronous governor. They can be customized with optional add-ons like cam-locks and a voltage selector switch.

Both the 50REZGT and 70REZGT are certi-fied for prime power and standby applications by the Environmental Pro-tection Agency, and certi-fied by the California Air Resources Board, which sets strict air quality stan-dards. Easy maintenance

For the new Kohler mobile generators, ser-vicing is easier thanks to the companys pat-ent-pending enclosure, which is easily pulled off after removing some bolts, offering straight-forward access to all parts without discon-necting any wires or additional parts. In ad-dition, the mobile gen-

erators include a fluid containment system to collect any leaking en-gine fluids. All Kohler generators come with a standard three-year war-ranty managed through a service network of more than 10,000 dealers across the United States and Canada, dedicated to meeting the needs of commercial and residen-tial customers.

The 50REXGT and 70REXGT are available for order now, and are part of the new line of mobile generators Kohler debuted in spring. Ad-ditional models will be released over the next year. Designed with cus-tomization in mind, the line offers a choice of fuel, a wide range of en-gine sizes, and custom receptacle connectors, fuel tanks and paint or decal packages. When fully released, the line will include 11 diesel gensets ranging from 35 kVA to 680 kVA and four gaseous gensets ranging from 30 kVA to 125 kVA.

consumption with no loss of performance. Komatsu continues to use a Kom-atsu Variable Geometry Turbocharger (KVGT) and an Exhaust Gas Recircula-tion (EGR) valve for more precise temperature and air management control as well as longer component life.

For product reliability and durability in demand-ing conditions, Komatsu developed the entire sys-tem, including the control software which is critical to the effective operation of the aftertreatment sys-tem. This control system is also integrated into the machines on-board diag-nostics systems and KOM-TRAX, Komatsus standard telematics system. Operator Environment

The large cab of the HM300-5 provides a com-fortable and quiet work environment. The ROPS/FOPS Level-2 certified cab has a newly designed rounded front dash panel with easy to reach switch-es. The centre mounted high back, heated air ride seat with 3-point seat belt provides the operator with excellent visibility during operation. The dashboard

Komatsu America Corp. introduces its HM300-5 ar-ticulated dump truck. The HM300 Tier 4 Final was exhibited earlier this year at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2014.

Featuring a net 324 HP (242 kW), the HM300-5 is powered by a Komatsu SAA6D125E-7 engine that is EPA Tier 4 Final emis-sions certified. Komatsus Tier 4 Final engines are built on the solid founda-tion inaugurated in 1996 with the introduction of Komatsus Tier 1 engines. This new articulated dump truck leverages Komatsus leadership in technology and innovation by deliver-ing a more environmen-tally friendly engine that provides high levels of performance while reduc-ing fuel consumption and operating costs.

With a 30.9 US ton (28 metric ton) payload and a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 117,892 lbs. (53,475 kg), the HM300-5 maintains the productiv-ity and performance of the previous model, and offers improved fuel efficiency to deliver what customers have come to expect from Komatsu articulated dump trucks. High Productivity

Through body design optimization, the HM300-5 has increased body capac-ity and payload. The low 92 (2820mm) loading height easily matches with 30-ton to 60-ton hydraulic excavators or 5 yd to 7.5 yd wheel loaders. Ad-ditionally, the two single-staged body lift cylinders provide a 70-degee dump angle. Selectable working modes allow the operator to choose between Econ-omy and Power modes to tailor machine perfor-mance to the application or work conditions. Efficient Operation

The HM300-5 features the Komatsu Traction Con-trol System (K-TCS) that automatically provides op-timum traction when oper-ating in soft ground condi-tions. As ground conditions worsen and tire slippage is detected by the speed sensors located on four wheels, automatic applica-tion of the inter-axle lock occurs. If tire slippage con-

tinues to be detected, then four independent brakes can be applied to slipping wheels to regain traction.

The HM300-5 is en-hanced with K-ATOM-iCSKomatsu Advanced Transmission with Opti-mum Modulation Control System. K-ATOMiCS offers a six-speed, fully-automat-ic transmission that uses an advanced electronic system to eliminate shift shock and torque cutoff to improve operator and en-gine efficiency. It automati-cally selects the ideal gear based on vehicle speed, en-gine rpm and the shift po-sition chosen. This results in powerful acceleration, smooth down- shifting and synchronized engine speed when climbing slopes. This ultimately minimizes oper-ator fatigue, keeps the load in the body and increases productivity.

A large automatic re-tarder allows the opera-tor to select the optimum operating speed on down-hill travel and fully loaded hauls, eliminating accelera-tion generated by the grade of the slope.

An integrated Payload Meter (PLM) is now stan-dard on the HM300-5. The PLM displays the loaded material weight on the 7 high-resolution LCD moni-tor for the truck operator as well as indicates payload information to the loader operator via external dis-play lamps. PLM data is also transferred via KOM-TRAX and can be accessed by web. Komatsu EPA Tier 4 Final Emission Certified Engine Productive, Depend-able, Efficient

and front console provide easy access to all machine controls as well as visibil-ity to the monitor panel. An auxiliary input has also been added to connect a smart phone or other de-vice along with two 12-volt ports that have also been incorporated into the cab.

A high resolution 7 LCD monitor offers en-hanced capabilities and displays information in 25 languages for global support. Through the monitor, the operator can

easily modify settings for items such as the Auto Idle Shutdown or the auto-reversing fan, check operational records, such as driving history or fuel consumption, monitor the KDPF or check how much time is required before the next maintenance in-terval. The monitor also provides the operator with the option of using the ECO Guidance func-tion, which will provide operational tips to reduce fuel consumption. A rear view monitor system with

a separate 7 LCD moni-tor is standard with every machine and is mounted on the right hand side of the console for operator convenience. Convenient Maintenance and Serviceability

The HM300-5 provides easier service access in or-der to reduce costly down-time. The new truck has a light-weight fiberglass engine hood for easy ac-cess, increased cooling ca-pacity, and two standard hydraulically driven auto-reversing fans to help keep

the radiator and charge air cooler clean. The cab tilts rearward for easy access to the transmission and an electrically powered tilt function is now standard on the HM300-5.

The machine is equipped with the exclusive Kom-atsu EMMS (Equipment Management Monitoring System), which has en-hanced diagnostic features that give the operator and technicians greater moni-toring and troubleshooting capabilities. EMMS also continuously monitors all

critical systems, preven-tative maintenance, and provides troubleshooting assistance to minimize di-agnosis and repair time.

The HM300-5 is equipped with the latest KOMTRAX remote moni-toring technology with data access via the web or via KOMTRAX Mobile on your smart phone. In addition to providing data such as fuel levels, operating hours, lo-cation, cautions and main-tenance alerts, KOMTRAX has been further enhanced to monitor AdBlue/DEF levels, ambient air tem-peratures and pressures.

A new Operator Identifi-cation System reports key operating information for multiple operators. A new Auto Idle Shutdown func-tion helps improve operat-ing costs by reducing un-necessary idle time.

All Komatsu Tier 4 ma-chines come with Kom-atsu CARE. Komatsu CARE provides complimentary scheduled maintenance for the first three years or 2,000 hours (whichever oc-curs first.) It also includes a 50-point inspection at each service and two compli-mentary KDPF exchanges in the first five years. b


The air conditioning sys-tem, the engine bleed air system and the cooled ser-vice air system for the fuel tank inerting system of the Airbus A320neo are devel-oped and manufactured by Liebherr-Aerospace Tou-louse SAS (France), whereas Liebherr-Aerospace Linden-berg GmbH (Germany) is responsible for the high-lift system, the high pressure and power transfer unit manifolds as well as the rud-der servo control.

The next-generation electro-pneumatic en-gine bleed air system is specifically optimized for the power plants of the A320neo. It features light-weight, robust and highly reliable compo-nents as well as an op-timized control archi-tecture. As the high-lift system for the A320 has an excellent in-service track record, it did not need to be modified for the A320neo family. b

Port Metro Vancou-vers Container Vessel On Time Performance Incen-tive Program took home the CIFFA Forwarders Celebrating Associates award for Excellence in Innovation on Friday, Sep-tember 26th, 2014. This year, the awards focused on industrys contribution to the marine community.

Through a combination of transparency reporting and wharfage reductions, Port Metro Vancouvers Container Vessel On Time Performance Incentive Pro-gram recognizes container vessel operators that arrive within +8 hours of their berth window start, there-by contributing to overall supply chain consistency. In 2013, the program re-sulted in a ten percentage point increase in vessel on time performance on aggre-gate across the Gateway.

crease in operational ef-ficiency speaks to the success of the program and the willingness of our carriers to cooperate with other supply chain partners and service pro-viders, said Peter Xotta, Vice President, Planning and Operations, Port Metro Vancouver.
