The route to Westminster Abbey was by The Mall, Admiralty Arch, south side of TrafalgarSquare, Northumberland Avenue, Victoria Embankment, Bridge Street, north and west sides ofParliament Square and Broad Sanctuary to the west entrance of Westminster Abbey.
The Peers and Peeresses, in their robes, and others invited by Command of the Queen to bepresent at the Solemnity of Her Majesty's Coronation in Westminster Abbey, were conductedupon arrival to the places reserved for them.
The doors of the Abbey were closed at 8.30 o'clock.The Great Officers of State and the Lords appointed by Her Majesty to bear the Regalia, in
their robes, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, the Bishops who supported Her Majesty,and those who bore the Bible, the Chalice, and the Paten, all vested in their copes, the Archbishopswearing their mitres, and the other persons appointed to take part in Her Majesty's Procession,assembled in the Vestibule without the West Door of the Abbey.

A Guard of Honour of the Queen's Company Grenadier Guards was mounted in theVestibule, and the Queen's Company Colour was posted at the entrance to the Choir.
Her Majesty the Queen, accompanied by His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh, havingproceeded in State from Buckingham Palace, arrived at 11 o'clock at the Royal Entrance toWestminster Abbey, where she was received by the Earl Marshal and the other Great Officers ofState, the Lord bearing the Sword of State, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, and theBishops her Supporters.
Her Majesty the Queen, and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh, went to theirretiring rooms. His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester* attended by his page Charles Brook,Esq., and the Peers and others who had arrived with Her Majesty but who did not take part inthe Procession, were conducted to the seats reserved for them.
The Peers and others who arrived with Her Majesty and who were to take part in theProcession formed up in their places in the Vestibule.
At 11.15 o'clock the Queen, accompanied by His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh,joined the Procession awaiting her in the Vestibule, and, entering by the West Door of the Abbey,proceeded in State through the Nave and the Choir to her Chair of Estate in the Area near tothe Altar, the choristers (under the direction of Dr. William McKie, M.V.O., M.A., D.Mus.,Organist of the Abbey) singing the Anthem
