SUPER YACHT SERVICE - FIRST STEPS

As the Captain or Navigation Officer of a Super Yacht, you will want to ensure the safety of your vessel, owners,passengers and crew by having the correct charts and publications onboard for the intended voyage, correctedto the latest Admiralty Notices to Mariners.

The Large Yacht Code (LY2) applies to “Red Ensign” flagged motor or sailing vessels of 24 metres in load linelength and over and which, at the time, are in commercial use for sport or pleasure and which carry no cargoand no more than 12 passengers. The Code requires the carriage of appropriate charts and publications (section19.1).

Ensuring you have the latest editions of charts and publications onboard, and correcting these importantsources of navigational information is a time consuming business, particularly when your yacht has a busy andcomplicated voyage plan.

Following an initial enquiry from a Super Yacht, we will request information from you to determine the scope ofservices you require from us. Your requirements will be based on your operating area(s), anticipated voyages,type of charts used (paper or electronic or both), publications (Admiralty or Imray or both), digital publications,and types of updating services required. The final solution may depend on the Flag State of your vessel, and theirrequirements. We can help you decipher the legislation. CHART & PUBLICATIONS OUTFIT MANAGEMENT SERVICE

Our Chart and Publications Outfit Management Service provides continuing global support for your navigationalresources onboard. At the time of the initial supply of charts and publications to a vessel, or when we take on themanagement of your existing charts and publications, we record the edition date of each chart and book, andenter these into our software. We then provide new editions of charts and publications automatically, usually atintervals of one month, or at intervals dictated by you, or your vessel's port rotation. This service is mostbeneficial to Super Yachts which operate in a fixed area.

An added benefit of our Outfit Management Service is the Weekly Chart Correction List - this lists the Notices toMariners (permanent, temporary and preliminary) the navigator must apply relevant to the charts onboard.

Charts and publications can be active or inactive (sleeping); inactive products do not have new editions supplied.

TODD NAVIGATION has experience within our organisation to ensure your vessel has the appropriate charts andpublications, from British Admiralty to IMO, ITU, OCIMF, Chamber of Shipping, etc. If your vessel is on a particularvoyage and you do not require new editions of charts for areas the vessel may not visit again, we can limit theOutfit Management Service to only those charts and publications necessary to the safe and statutory operationof the ship. We help to ensure your onboard charts and publications are always updated and legal.

Each vessel receives a laminated Outfit Management Supply Certificate and inventory binder, which can beshown to Port State Inspectors/Class Surveyors if necessary. The certificate lists the services we have agreed tosupply. It is renewed annually, together with a copy of the vessel's current inventories.

We hold a worldwide stock of fully corrected British Admiraltycharts and an extensive selection of nautical books andpublications from the UKHO, International MaritimeOrganisation (IMO), ITU, International Chamber of Shipping,Brown, Son & Ferguson, Shipping Guides, OCIMF, Witherby, etc.

We are also a Premier agent of Imray, the leading supplier ofcharts and cruising guides specifically designed for yachtsmen.

Today paper charts continue to form a key part of most vessels' navigational resources, despite the increasingadoption of electronic charts in ECDIS systems for day-to-day use. Paper charts offer a backup system that canbe used in the event of ECDIS failure on board a yacht, as well as being better suited for discussing and planningitineraries with yacht owners and guests.

For the Admiralty List of Radio Signals, we can provide these in Loose-leaf format. Each new edition of the ALRSis provided in a four ring binder. Subsequently, weekly updates consisting of numbered replacement pages areprovided, considerably reducing the update burden onboard.

We also offer a storage and correction facility. Your chart folios can be stored for a specified period of time, thencorrected up-to-date and despatched to your vessel ready for the next voyage, for example, crossing the Atlanticto winter in the Caribbean.

ELECTRONIC CHARTS & ECDIS

As an International Admiralty Chart Agent, we can supply your vessel with the Admiralty Vector Chart Service(AVCS). Electronic Navigation Charts (ENCS), when supplied through AVCS, are official government charts, and assuch meet SOLAS carriage requirements, when used in a type approved ECDIS. We manage your ENC holdingsthrough e-Navigator Fleet Manager, and provide a superior service for the supply of permits for new ENCs atshort notice. Along with Admiralty quality and unrivalled coverage, you're also assured of the most up-to-dateinformation available. Automatic updating comes as standard with no additional cost via the internet.

The Admiralty Information Overlay and worldwide Temporary and Preliminary Notices to Mariners ensure thatall your digital charts are kept up to date electronically.

Perhaps your Super Yacht is using Transas TX97 charts or C-MAP CM93 electronic charts. We can maintain yourholdings for you, and arrange new coverage or updates as required.

ADMIRALTY E-NAVIGATOR

Admiralty e-Navigator organises, updates, and brings together all of the digital information needed to plan safevoyages and simplify essential tasks. e-Navigator is a back-of bridge software application which you can install ona PC or laptop. e-Navigator provides a wealth of information which can then be organised, maintained anddisplayed, giving bridge and shore-based teams instant access to all the navigational information they need,whenever they need it, wherever they are in the world. e-Navigator is particularly useful at displaying yourpurchased ENC holdings, the expiry dates of the holdings, and planning new voyage requirements for theAdmiralty Vector Chart Service.

Todd Navigation is offering Admiralty e-Navigator software free of charge as part of an integrated back of bridgesystem with the Admiralty Vector Chart Service.

We are ready to assist you with the migration from paper charts to digital charts. Our experts can advise on theright choice of digital transit, regional and port folios, or individual ENCs, to ensure complete and economic chartcoverage. Our Digital Products Manager then provides updated permits and electronic charts on a weekly basis,on hard media or by email.

ADMIRALTY DIGITAL PUBLICATIONS (ADP)

The UKHO’s acclaimed range of navigational publications have evolved in the form of Admiralty DigitalPublications (ADP). Tide Tables, Admiralty List of Lights and Fog Signals and ALRS Volume 6 can now bepurchased in digital format, with fully-searchable software that enables you to save time, whilst offering greaterfunctionality than a standard book. What's more, ADP is easily updatable by Weekly CD-ROM, email, or downloadfrom the UKHO's website.

A majority of Flag States now accept ADP as a digital alternative to the paper publications, so you can be assuredthat the digital data you're carrying is official, and compliant. Each ADP installation comes with a signedcertificate from the UKHO which can be presented to Port State Inspectors.

Traditional chart table instruments are available in-stock for all the requirements of the Navigator working withpaper charts. TODD NAVIGATION stocks a wide range of parallel rules and dividers in various sizes and types,together with navigational triangles, pencil compasses, Breton (Portland) plotters, 2B pencils, erasers, chartcorrecting pens, etc. We also offer a full range of supporting navigational equipment, including sextants,binoculars, clocks and barometers, and code and courtesy flags.

CHART-TRACK is an advanced system of inventory management that enables vessels to receive the tracings andNotices to Mariners by satellite or 3G. This effectively means that vessels will have this important navigationaldata much sooner than if sent by post. CHART-TRACK is supplied on a subscription basis, the cost of which isgreatly recovered by the saving in time and the increase in safety.

CHART-TRACK is fully integrated within the folio management system andincludes on-board software to make the management of your chart &publication inventory much simpler. CHARTCORRECT

Under the Carriage of Nautical Publications rules all UK vessels over 12 metres are required to carry MerchantShipping Notices. The carriage of certain notices is also required on vessels of a collective group of Red EnsignRegistries, namely Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Gibraltar, Isle of Man and the UK. An annual “M” Noticessubscription from Witherby Seamanship provides your vessel with a complete database of current “M” Notices,kept up-to-date via a bi-monthly CD-ROM.

MERCHANT SHIPPING NOTICES ON CD

Admiralty Temporary and Preliminary Notices to Mariners are displayed relevant to the chart inventory onboard,and there is the ability to display only active T & Ps.

ChartCorrect presents a complete picture of the corrections already done, which corrections remain to becompleted, and ordered by priority, and there is the possibility to filters charts, folios, etc. Navigational Warningsare summarised and divided by NAVAREA.

ChartCorrect also manages all the updates for Admiralty Publications corrected in the weekly Notices toMariners, with particular attention to Sailing Directions, List of Lights and Fog Signals, and Radio Signals.

Weekly the entire charts and publications database is updated by email via satellite services or 3G. Mariners arealways advised of new editions of Admiralty charts and publications, as well as replaced or withdrawn ones.Through the inventory functions you can generate and view the Paper Chart Maintenance Record (NP133A),needed for inspections.

The maximum data size for ChartCorrect weeklyupdates is up to 1.5 MB, very little for such anefficient and effective service!
