    Job Details

    SUMMARY:Manufacturing supervisor role positioned at the entry level in the organisational structure. Supervisory ormanagerial responsibility for achievement of production and efficiency targets in manufacturing or in themanufacturing environment.

    PURPOSE :Located in the factory, manages teams of direct labour employees who are directly involved with production.The major purpose of the role is to lead the teams over several production lines, in the achievement of its targets

    in customer service (actual vs plan), operational cost, safety and quality standards.This is achieved through continually improving against Key Performance indicators (KPIs) for OEE (overallequipment effectiveness), wastage, labour efficiency/headcount, wage rate efficiency, quality (nonconformance), training and safety.Responsible for the development of SOPs and GMPs and processes related to ISO, E Mark and Global Manuals thatprovide specific instructions and guidance to the unit teams that will enable them to perform the tasks relevant toproduction outputs and the achievement of the units objectives and targets.The role also has the accountability of standardisation, development and sustainability of the relevant operations

    in terms of equipment, continuous improvement, QC functions, Supply Excellence (SMED, 5S, TPM, AM) andongoing development of all team members are maintained at the highest level possible.

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Implement and improve lean manufacturing concepts to optimize the performance of all resources available. Accountable for area of operation. Identifies and implements continuous improvement projects related to area of operation. Lead the Unit according to the Vision and Values of the company

    Defines, sets and measures objectives, targets and goals aligned with Supply objectives. Accountable for units losses through the management of operating variances. Ensures good health and safety are maintained at all times. Consults with Manufacturing Manager, Quality Assurance, Planning, Stores, Warehouse and Maintenance functionsto develop and implement strategies to maximize the Units profitability through world class manufacturingprinciples, asset utilization, inventory control and global quality standard. To achieve the weekly Production Plan in order to support the achievement of the business PFR target (Customer

    Service) for products produced in the production unit. Participates in multi functional projects teams as a technical expert for the Unit. Ensure that Quality standards and specifications are met as per quality management processes and certificationsrelated to ISO 9001, e Mark and Global Manuals. Generate NCR for quality issues related to product and component issues and follow through until preventativeaction is implemented and NCR closed. Ensure that SOPs are in place for all change-overs. Change over times are consistently challenged and improvedto support improvements in OEE. To support good industrial relations with line teams by ensuring consistent and fair work practices and

    maintaining a productive IR climate - with close consultation and relationship with labour brokers and HR. Ensure that the daily OEE tracker is maintained with correct information on a daily basis. Ensure that self audits are done as per SOPs Manage Technical skills training and development of all the operational team and actively develop and transferAutonomous maintenance tasks to the line leaders & operators. Support plant by filling in on other units due to absenteeism/leave. Accountable for planning, organizing and controlling of shift operation - ultimately responsible for shiftperformance with support from Shift Supervisor.

    Submit monthly KPIs for business reporting. Ensure that labour reconciliation is up to date and accurate for pay purposes. Control overtime. Ensure all line staff is trained as per ISO requirements and that the training records are up to date. Ensure SOPs and Log Books are up to date and valid. Support X-Trim and Squeeze projects as per business Plan. Support NPD and EPD and is accountable to ensure that the trial report is completed to include allrecommendations to plant and equipment, cost and quantities of materials and labour used.

    Inherent Requirements:

    QUALIFICATIONS Diploma or Degree in one or more of the following: Production Management, Engineering, Process Engineering,Quality Management, Business Engineering Understanding of production operations an advantage

    EXPERIENCE: Must have 5 years post qualification in an FMCG production environment in high level supervisory, leadership or

    management role Worked with and has good knowledge of hazardous locations and materials Quality management and good manufacturing practices Technical knowledge/awareness in mechanical, processing, chemical or electrical engineering Computer literate i.e. JDE, SCADA, Microsoft packages TPM Minimum Working knowledge. Able to coach and mentor at both individual and team level IR Skills

    OSHE awareness Excellent communication skills, including presentation skills, listening, writing, oral Leadership skills Committed to Customer Service, Continuous Improvement, and achievement of objectives

    Computer SkillsJD Edwards, Microsoft, SCADA
