Arilyn

Major Power

Ability to manipulate the kinetic energy of molecules

Allows her to “freeze” objects/people, blow things up, and create weak force fields

She does this by either removing kinetic energy and moving to one of the other dimensions, which near-instantaneously forces the object to 0 K. The object does not undergo a state change, however. Or she forces so much energy into an object that it vaporizes.

Minor Power

She has superhuman strength, roughly 10x the strength of a man (Buffy-esque for reference)

Biological reasoning- she’s an Elf, so her bones are stronger and her muscles are more efficient, etc.

Circuit

Major Power

He is a technopath.

He can control electronics with his mind.

This is related to this is the fact that his neurons fire more quickly and energetically than most peoples, and he can control his body more than most.

Because of this the neural pathways in his brain are highly efficient, giving him a near eidetic memory and incredible intelligence. He can also, should he choose, regulate his body’s functions and speed up his healing.

Minor Power

His minor power is basically just that he created this fancy suit that can do all sorts of things, such as emit electricity, or camouflage him.

Page 5: Superhero presentation

Please note that Circuit also has a high arrogance factor, resulting in a high

lameness factor

Physics

Circuit attacks Arilyn with a sonar gun, and the gun generates a ultrasonic frequency of roughly 120 decibels.

Arilyn freezes the gun, which is made out of steel. The mass of the gun is roughly .5 kg. Because of the mechanisms within the gun, it is roughly 300 K. She forces it down to 0 K.

.5 kg(.49kJ/kg K)(300 K)= 73.5 kJ

Page 7: Superhero presentation

At the same time, Arilyn

freezes the air in front of

her. The air is 295 K.

She freezes roughly ¾ of a

m3 of air. The mass of the

air is 1.205 kg/m3 * .75 m3.

This means that the mass is

.904 kg.

1.005 kJ/kg K (.904 kg) (295

K) = 268.01 kJ

Page 8: Superhero presentation

Considering that waves travel at 343 m/s, and Circuit and

Arilyn are roughly 100 m apart, Arilynhas .343 s to freeze

both the gun and the air.

Thus the combined power needed is (73.5 kJ + 268 kJ)/.343

s =995.626822 W

Page 9: Superhero presentation

Arilyn then blows up the gun. As the gun is .5 kg, and the heat of vaporization of steel is 3273 K, the energy required for this is .5 kg(.49kJ/kg K)(3273 K) =801.88500 kJ

The latent heat of fusion for iron (the closest I could find to steel) is 272 kJ/kg, which makes the energy of vaporization 136 kJ.

The total energy is 937.9 kJ

It takes her .2 s to vaporize the gun

Thus the power is 937.9 kJ/ .2s

= 4 689.5 W

Page 10: Superhero presentation

Circuit then stuns Arilyn using roughly 300,000 volts and

tranquilizes her.

Page 11: Superhero presentation

Arilyn also freezes Circuit

several times.

Circuit weighs about 85 kg,

and is 309 K.

3470 J/kg K (85 kg) (309 K)

= 91139.55 kJ

This occurs in .2 s, so it is

91139.55 kJ / .2 s =

455697.75 W

Page 12: Superhero presentation

Arilyn also causes the computer to start on fire by vaporizing

the fans.

Assuming that for a super computer of this size and

magnitude (its pretty B.A.), there is about 1.2 kg of fan metal

and casing, which is made out of steel

the energy required for this is 1.2 kg(.49kJ/kg K)(3273 K)

=1924.524 kJ

She does this in .4 s, because she’s getting tired.

Thus 1924.524 kJ/.4s = 4811.31 W
