Houghton Metalworking Fluid Equipment Solutions In-line shearing homogenizer, compact and efficient Super Shear Mixer by Misco Designed specifically for metalworking fluids, this homogenizing mixer produces ultra-fine droplets, with uniform size and distribution, for stable long-lasting emulsions Sometime it’s a struggle to dilute metalworking fluid concentrates. This may require mixing relatively viscous mineral or synthetic oil-based concentrates with water to form emulsions. To ensure a stable, worry-free emulsion, it is helpful to apply high-energy shearing forces during mixing. Shearing forces create ultra-fine droplets with uniform size and distribution which are more easily dispersed; this is especially important when diluting a concentrate with relatively hard or cold water. Uniquely capable of imparting tremendous mechanical and hydraulic shearing forces on a fluid, the Super Shear Mixer drives metalworking fluid through a series of dynamic channels, or shear zones, as it passes through a matrix of intermeshing rings with teeth spinning at 3600 RPM. An exceptionally small and uniform droplet size is achieved in a single pass with superior performance and efficiency compared with larger, more elaborate mixing systems. The innovative rugged and compact design of the Super Shear Mixer readily fits into existing processes enabling efficient mixing for initial fills, coolant make-up, and coolant recycling streams. The inline design easily connects between a fluid proportioner and central fluid system or sump and requires no intermediate blending or storage tank. The Super Shear Mixer is easy to install and operate – no calibration, tuning, or adjusting of any sort. Just hook it up and send it fluid. The Super Shear Mixer is an excellent companion to Houghton’s GREENLIGHT™ Andon Fluid Monitor and to Houghton’s ACTS™-02 Fluid Monitor and Control System, combining efficient continuous emulsion formation with continuous automated metalworking fluid monitoring and control. The Super Shear Mixer has a refractometer port for continuous concentration measurement and control using either of Houghton’s Fluid Monitors. Maintaining metalworking fluids has never been so easy and cost effective!
