Super Park is a social event built around idea of edutainment for citizens of all ages. In a situation of little number of activities offered for citizens in municipal parks (and all of them had to be paid) PRCI.Storytellers with support of Itransition Software Development Company decided to turn Minsk central park into a Super-Park where all activities are free and useful.

PROJECT GOAL & OBJECTIVE:

GOAL: Create an extraordinary event in local park that could bring together citizens of all ages and have a good impact on thedevelopment of the park itself. The date of event was June 28, Youth day, and agency had to develop the concept that would engage both young generation and other visitors in activities throughout the day. In addition to that, all activities should form a thematic whole (going through all of them had to be awarded).

OBJECTIVE: Develop a number of engaging activities that would form 7 thematic zones in the park;Create large campaign before the event with help of municipal media

EXECUTION: We developed 7 thematic zones that were functioningthroughout the day and had non-stop activities for people of all ages. Each guest had a chance to participate in birdwatching tour, make a DIY bag or learn how to plant seeds. Kids had a chance to participate in architectural workshops and theatre master-classes. Event title “Super-Park” was reflecting a totally new approach to urban events where “super” isstanding for intensity of events and super-powers one can get after taking part in all of them.

Around 20 volunteers helped organizers to navigate the crowd and collect ideas about park improvement. Each zone had from 1 to 3 activities repeating each hour. Thematic zones werecentered on specific themes: science, architecture, ecology, theatre, dance, sports and birdwatching. After going through all 7 zones kids were awarded a special “Super-Hero Diploma”.

Overall media reach resulted in 2 million contacts (5 stories on national TV channels and more than 20 publications in printed and online media). Volunteers collected around 150 ideas on park improvement for citizens that were later systematized into a special report for municipal administration. The report resulted into a pilot initiative Idea for Park (http://idea4park.by/) , a website that is collectingideas from citizens for a new cultural centre that is about to be built in one of local parks.

• Around 150 ideas collected from citizens • Requests for similar events in municipal parks

in 2016/2017
