OPERATIONAL PLAN 2018 - 2020

AREAS OF FOCUS PLAYERS PEOPLE PLACES PARTNERSHIPS PROMOTION

ACTIONS FOR 2018 • Continue to develop disability cricket program; liaise with Council and local community groups to identify participants

• Continue to actively grow veteran’s cricket program

• Seek sponsorship to secure the future of disability and veteran’s programs

• Work with clubs to develop and display inclusion and anti-discrimination policies to support positive behaviour

• More actively engage with clubs to encourage support of the association’s grade teams and stronger attendance at games

• Host fun mixed cricket options for one-off social events or on a regular basis to introduce more women and girls to the game

• Finalise constitution review and streamline management committee structure

• Prepare and adopt position descriptions for management committee members, coaches and key volunteer positions

• Prepare terms of reference for subcommittees

• Make use of new agenda and minute keeping templates to streamline meeting procedures

• Facilitate training and accreditation for coaches, scorers and umpires, making use of grant funding where possible

• Host pre-season MyCrickettraining sessions for club administrators and scorers

• Continually work with clubs towards expanding facility provision to accommodate increasing membership

• Maintain regular contact with Queensland Cricket and Council on behalf of affiliated clubs regarding proposed facility upgrades

• Work with governing bodies to continually streamline umpire registration processes

• Seek out local businesses that may benefit from a ‘preferred supplier’ relationship and personally discuss sponsorship opportunities

• Continue to support affiliated clubs through ball subsidies

• Provide support for clubs to apply for funding through Cricket Australia’s Growing Cricket for Girls Fund

• Distribute a monthly sponsor spotlight newsletter

• Proactively promote club matches through various media to encourage greater awareness

• Leverage Cricket Australia and Queensland Cricket marketing initiatives whenever possible

• Ensure website is maintained up-to-date and is recognised as the main information source for internal and external users

ACTIONS FOR 2019 • Develop a female modified competition spanning 1-3 hours, scheduled for midweek and/or weekends as an introduction to competitive cricket

• Scorchers players to assist with coaching programs at community cricket level

• Work with all Division 1 clubs to host Milo In2Cricket and Milo T20 Blast activities from 2019

• Assist subcommittees to streamline meeting procedures, making use of agenda and minute keeping templates

• Host pre-season umpiring education sessions on local rules and playing conditions

• Work with club management committees to encourage the establishment of positive personal relationships with members, to improve volunteer engagement

• Develop a facility fund, whereby clubs can apply for financial support from the association, to assist with facility upgrades

• Work with clubs to review competition formats, with a view to best meeting the demands of players

• Implement independent umpiring in lower senior grades

• Support any small, struggling clubs to amalgamate with stronger clubs nearby, as suitable

• Maintain an up-to-date database of all club contacts

• Work with Queensland Cricket to bring more high level cricket matches to the Sunshine Coast, to better promote the game

• Engage a suitable consultant to facilitate annual workshops regarding social media, websites and marketing for clubs

• Develop relationships with local media outlets and pitch stories of interest frequently, contact clubs fortnightly to seek content

ACTIONS FOR 2020 • Support, where appropriate, any aspirational and talented players to participate in Scorchers training programs as suitable

• Assist clubs with supporting talented juniors through pathway formats

• Work with Queensland Cricket and club representatives to visit schools and the university with a view to attracting new players

• Host coaching education sessions facilitated by Scorchers coaching staff to upskill club coaches at least three times per year

• Encourage more female members to participate in Community Coach and Officiating Courses

• Support club facility upgrades through the association’s facility fund, based on the merits of each application and project

• Ensure sponsors perceive value for money for their support

• Work with Queensland Cricket to provide a recruitment pathway through relationships with local schools

• Provide assistance to clubs to improve their governance and administration processes

• Investigate options for partnership with indoor cricket providers to foster cross-promotion opportunities

• Strive to achieve 80% of members following the association’s Facebook page

• Encourage clubs to make use of free PlayCricketposters, flyers and advertising templates, available via MyCricket
