President’s Report

Another month has past us bye or should I say year as our up coming meeting will be

our Christmas breakup.

Since our last Newsletter publication we had Becky Trevor as a guest speaker in September.

Giving us an insight on her introduction to Bromeliads to her

current role as Manager of the “Olive Branch”.

A photo presentation of the Nursery highlighting the

expanse of assorted and special Bromeliads.

As the “Olive Branch” will be one of many selling at the Sunny

Broms conference with what our members have seen a number will be eager to attend the conference to be amongst the first to

purchase some of the new releases that will be available.

Many thanks to Becky for a very informative and delightful

presentation.

Olive Trevor who we haven’t seen for some time was kind

enough to talk us through some of the Bromeliads on the dis-

play table.

Keep an eye out on upcoming events , you will notice that the in March the Hall is unavailable and former president Cheryl Basic has offered to have a garden meeting at her place.

A special thank you to the BBQ team for a very successful fund raiser, regretfully I was unable

to attend and help out. We have been allocated another sausage sizzle on Friday 16th Decem-

ber. Some extra help will be required so if you are up to it please contact Carol.

As always looking forward to our meeting this month.

On behalf of President Nigel

SUNNY BROMS

Bunnings Maroochydore Sausage Sizzle

Peter and Gaye setting up on a Saturday morn-

ing, head down bums up sorting out the order

of drinks for sale, whilst Cheryl (hidden) laying

out the table for the slice of bread and serviettes

On which the sausages are placed. Ralf in the meantime is well underway with the

first packet of sausages on the BBQ plate as

well as the first lot of pre cooked onions being

heated up. Carol is kept busy unloaded her car

with all the necessary goodies for the days ac-

tivity.

Based on about 4 trays of sausages

per hour we were lagging behind our

previous best.

Little did we realise that once the

tempo heated up it was full on for the rest of the day. Closer to the end of

the day it was realised we were going

the run out of both sausages and

bread on not just one occasion but

two. Yes a total of 61 trays of sau-

sages were all sold, as were all the

drinks. With record sales it was down

to counting the days takings and some

well earned refreshments.

Saturday 12th November 2016

More boxes then you can

poke a stick at but all have

their place.

After our last very suc-

cessful event Carol as-sured us she had pur-

chased an equivalent of

supplies in order would

not run out. Let the sales

being. After a surprising

ly slow start we were

sceptical about the out

come for the day.

Time for some Humour

A father passing by his son's bedroom was as-

tonished to see the bed was nicely made and

everything was picked up. Then, he saw an en-

velope, propped up prominently on the pillow. It

was addressed, 'Dad'. With the worst premoni-tion, he opened the envelope and read the letter

with trembling hands:

"Dear Dad,

It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing

you. I had to elope with my new girlfriend, be-

cause I wanted to avoid a scene with you and

mom.

I've found real passion with Stacy. She is so

nice, but I knew you would not approve of her

because of all her piercings, tattoos, her tight

motorcycle clothes, and because she is so much older than I am.

But it's not only the passion, Dad. She's preg-

nant. Stacy said that we will be very happy. She

owns a trailer in the woods, and has a stack of

firewood for the whole winter. We share a

dream of having many more children.

Stacy has opened my eyes to the fact that mari-

juana doesn't really hurt anyone. We'll be grow-

ing it for ourselves and trading it with the other

people in the commune for all the cocaine and ecstasy we want.

In the meantime, we'll pray that science will find

a cure for AIDS so that Stacy can get better. She

sure deserves it!

Don't worry Dad, I'm 15 and I know how to take

care of myself. Someday, I'm sure we'll be back

to visit so you can get to know your many

grandchildren.

With love, your son,

Joshua.

P.S. Dad, none of the above is true. I'm over

at Jason's house. I just wanted to remind you

that there are worse things in life than the

school report that's on the kitchen table. Call

when it is safe for me to come home!"
