Digging Deeper
Last week we looked at one of the most obvious commands
in the Bible, “Go Make Disciples.” Over the next couple of weeks we
are going to look at ways to actually go about making disciples. Be-
fore we can actually go about making a disciple however we have to
look at what a disciple actually is.
According to Merriam-Webster dictionary a disciple is
someone who accepts and helps to spread the teachings of a famous
person. While I would agree with this for this most part it is impor-
tant to remember that a disciple is someone who does more than
just know about the person they are following. A disciple does not
want to just know what his teacher knows. A disciple actually wants
to be just like that teacher. When we make disciples for Christ we
are not just telling someone a bunch of cool facts about Christ. We
are actually teaching them a way of life. We are teaching them how
to live just like Christ. What is key in us teaching is have we truly
learned to walk like Christ or do we just know a bunch of cool facts
about Him. It’s never too late to start walking like Him. So learn to
walk just like Christ and then teach others to do the same.
