“The Lord’s Sanctuary”
Nov 5
Bloomfield Baptist Family:
“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1) A condemned criminal is one who has been found guilty of a crime and has been issued a punishment for their crime. A condemned criminal is one who bears the guilt of what they have done and now must pay the due penalty. In Paul’s letter to the Christians in Rome, he makes it clear that they are guilty of sin. He informs the Romans that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Paul also makes it clear that there is a just penalty for those who have sinned when he writes, “the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). If we have all sinned and if the wages of sin is death, then how can Paul write to the Christians in Rome that they are no longer condemned? Because they are “in Christ Jesus”! Paul is reminding the Christians in Rome of an important truth that you and I need to be reminded of every day. We are indeed sinners. We are indeed guilty of sin. We are indeed due the penalty of our sin. But Jesus Christ has paid the penalty for us, and through repentance and faith He has covered us with His righteousness! The enemy wants to remind us of our sin, shame and guilt….but God’s Word reminds us that we are in Christ and that we are no longer condemned! Live in that truth today and every day! Reaching Bloomfield with You, Pastor Richard
