Bloomfield Baptist Family:
“Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted. In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood”. (Hebrews 12:3-4)
We all need lessons in perspective from time to time. I re-cently had a conversation with someone who shared about the frustration they experienced during a 4 hour traffic jam. However, their perspective changed when they realized that the traffic jam was the result of a fatal accident, and that they were spared from that accident by only a few minutes. Their perspective changed from frustration to gratitude.
As we approach this Easter Sunday, we need to come to our celebration of the resurrection with a biblical perspective. It is easy to think of Easter Sunday as a busy time where we have to get everyone dressed up and out the door on time. It is easy for Easter to be a day we spend running from one family gathering to the next, or a day when we take a long nap on the couch. But we need to stop and consider what it is that we are to remember on this Lord’s Day.
The writer of Hebrews calls us to stop and consider what Christ endured on the cross on our behalf. In doing so, we should be encouraged at the great debt Christ paid for us, as well as be reminded that our struggles in life are minor com-pared to what Christ endured for us. This is the perspective we need as we draw near to our worship gathering on Sun-day.
I pray that you will have a blessed celebration of the resur-rection this Lord’s Day!
