For some time I have been thinking of an item called “Four-thought” which would be a 3 4 minute reflection from a member of the church in our service. It would be a God focused thought on a Bible passage, or a poem or painting or perhaps a testimony relating to daily life. One per Sunday would be most encouraging and it is always good to hear from others. PRAYER On this Fathers’ Day, we give thanks for our fathers. Pray for fathers within the Church and also remember

those who have had difficult experiences within their families. Pray a blessing on each man who cares for his family and those who give paternal love and support to others. Pray for those fathers who are absent from their families at this time and help them to maintain strong ties.

For those touched physically by the coronavirus as well as those whose finances are being hit due to the closure of businesses and job losses. Pray for our government; for wisdom and good leadership during this difficult time.

For all Chris and our churchwardens, Glenda and Virginia and all who lead us as plans and preparations are made to open the church for private prayer.

Pray for the work of The Evangelical Alliance: Bringing Christians together and helping them listen to, and be heard by, the government, media and society. Give thanks that through prayer, Christians can join together worldwide, encouraging and supporting each other. At St Luke’s we pray for our shared life, ministry and mission and wisdom as we move forwards. We pray for Andy Hogg, Joan and Sarah Percy, John Wartnaby, Louise Samways’ father Glen, Mary Exton, Angie Threadgold. Pray for the Pain family in Japan & the Bennetts at home in UK.

Special Prayer for the 2nd Sunday after Trinity: Lord, you have taught us that all our doings without love are nothing worth: send your Holy Spirit and pour into our hearts that most excellent gift of love, the true bond of peace and of all virtues, without which whoever lives is counted dead before you, through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord. Amen. Keep us, good Lord, under the shadow of your mercy in this time of uncertainty and distress. Sustain and support the anxious and fearful, and lift up all who are brought low; that we may rejoice in your comfort knowing that nothing can separate us from your love in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen. Philippians 3 10 I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. 12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. 44 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
