PREFACE

We hereby submit AQAR of our Sundarrao More Arts, Commerce and Science College, for the academic year 2008-2009 The main achievements of the college in this academic year can be summed up as follows 1. Commencement of Second year of Science faculty as per

natural growth. 2. Organization of Kun-fu & Karate, Judo and Yoga training

camp for girl students. 3. Participation of N.S.S. students in National Integration Cam at

Jodhapur-Rajastan in Dec. 2009. 4. Third Prize won by college student in a District Level Essay

What is the plan of action chalked out by IQAC in the beginning of the year towards quality enhancement and what is the outcome by the end of year ?

In the light of ‘Future Plan' submitted to NAAC in our AQAR for the 2007-08, the IQAC of the college has chalked out an Action plan. The details of this plan and its outcome is shown in the following chart:

1 Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the Institution:

The Mission statement our college is: Higher Education for the deprived ones. To achieve this mission we have kept before us certain goals and objectives. Some of the activities undertaken by the college in this year towards achieving these objectives are as follows :

Objective: To impart higher education to educationally deprived students: In this academic year 2008-09, 525 students took admission in the college. Out of which 210 are girl students who otherwise would have been deprived of higher education, as there is no other facility of higher education available in this remote and hilly area. Schemes and activities undertaken by our college, such as Group Insurance Scheme, various scholarships, free ships, Book–Bank Scheme etc have proved very useful to encourage economically backward students of this area to take up higher education. Following chart shows the details of these schemes and activities.

Commencement of Second Year Class Science Faculty

As there was no faculty of higher education in Science stream, the students were deprived of Science Education. To remove this lacuna, sanstha has taken efforts and from this academic year 2007-2008 got the permission to start science faculty (Stream) Accordingly in the current academic year 2008-2009 we have started second year class of Science faculty as per Natural Growth.


Kun-Fu & Karate Training for SC and ST Girl Students. With the assistance of Integrated Child Development Program & Block Development Office, Poladpur, the college has organized one month training camp for SC/ST Girl students to provide them the training of Kun-Fu-Karate & Yoga. 35 Girl students were participated in this training camp.

Objective: To develop overall personality of the students To ensure overall personality development of out students, various committees and departments of the college have undertaken following activities in the academic year 2008-09.

1. National A. To celebrate Birth Anniversary of Ch.Shahumaharaj N.S.S.

organized Essay Competition and Poster Exhibition. Service B. 25 students participated as surveyors to evaluate Nutrition Diet

Scheme for Primary School. The survey was undertaken by Yashada, an institution formed by state government.

Scheme C. Organized Special Camp at Kapade Village in association with Block Development office of Poladpur. In this eight days camp organized under ‘ Nirmalgram Scheme’ of the state government, students have constructed 100 hole (shoshjkhadde) for lavatories.

D. Organized Blood Donation Camp on 30th Nov. 2008. E. Organized a residential camp at Dhamandevi village for 20th to

26th December 2008. Digging of Holes for lavatories and Compost Khadde, Vanarai Bunds, Road repairing were the programs carried out in the camp.

F. Organized poster exhibition and lecture on 1st Dec. 2008, /World Aids Day.

G. N.S.S. Students participated in Pulse Polio, Red Ribbon and Nirmal Gram Yojana programs.

H N.S.S. Students participated in various programs, events,

Camps. The details of the same is given in ‘E’ of answer to ‘Q’ 41 (Other Information) of this report.


2. Cultural Activities Committee

Cultural Activities Committee encouraged students to take part in various inter collegiate and university level competitions. The details of the is same given: In the answer of Q.41 – E of this report

1. Annual Cultural program was organized on 29th Jan 2009.

2. Apart from this Cultural Activities Committee was actively involved in organizing Third R.D. Chitre Memorial Inter-Collegiate Elocution Competition on 19th Jan. 2009.

3)Sports Committee

Sports Committee encouraged students to participate in various competitions and tournaments. The details of the same are given in the answer to question No. 41 (Other Information) of report

4) Career Guidance Cell

* The department has organized “Soft Skill Development Workshop” for the students on 21st Sep 2008 to celebrate college foundation day H.R. trainer Mr. Sadanand has given power point presentation in this workshop.

* The college has organized a workshop on “Opportunities in IT Field” jointly with Jetking, Pune on 21st Oct 2008.

5)Students Welfare Department

* The department has organized Micro Literacy Camp in association with Mahad – Poladpur Bar Association and Legal Aid Service Committee on 7th Feb. 2009. The resource persons imparted valuable information regarding various Laws such as Cyber Law, Family Violence Law and Raging etc.

* Such and many other programs have certainly proved helpful in Developing the personality of the students.


Objective: To provide platform for students by encouraging them to take part in cultural, Sports and Extra Curricular Activities

In this academic year 2008-2009, Students are encouraged to

participate in various activities and competitions which are mentioned in E answer to Q No 41 (Other Information)

Objective: To inculcate civic values among students to make them responsible citizens of India.

Students are encouraged to take part in Pulse Polio, Nirmal Gram

Yojana and Blood Donation Camp.

N.S.S. Students participated in two residential camps.

2 New Academic Programs Initiated:

Accordingly, in the current academic year 2008-2009, We have started second year class of science faculty as per natural growth. From the last academic year 2007-2008 we have started personal contact program centre (PCP) of Institution of Distance Education of University of Mumbai. This year (2008-2009) we have started P.C. program for the external students of M.A. and M.Com part II over all 100 students got the benefit of this PCP centre.

3 Innovations in Curricular Design and transaction

It is well known that in an affiliated college system, modular curriculum has little place. In this year, our teachers participated in workshops organized to discuss the syllabi of their respective subjects. The details of the same are given in “A” of answer to Q 41 (Other Information)


4 Inter-disciplinary Programs Started

No inter-disciplinary program could be started by the college. But Foundation Course I and II, which is a compulsory subject for the students of first and second year, Arts & Commerce and Science, is an inter-disciplinary subject, which covers topics like personality development, environmental awareness, story of science and Human development, social environment etc.

18 Community Service As Follows

1. N.S.S department organized Blood Donation and Blood Group Detection Camp on

30th Nov. 2008. 2. N.S.S Department organized a residential camp at Kapde in association with Block

Development Officer, Poladpur. The activities suitable for Nirmalgram Yojana of the state government were mainly carried out. Students digged out 100 big holes (Shoshkhadde) for the construction of lavatories. The regular N.S.S. camp was also organized.

3. N.S.S. Students participated in a survey carried out by Yashada, government organization to evaluate Nutritious Diet Scheme for primary students..

4. N.S.S. students also participated in programs like Pulse Polio, Red Ribbon Club etc.

5. teachers for newly started science faculty were recruited on Clock Hour Basis. One Laboratory Assistance & one Laboratory Attendance were also recruited.

The feedback system was implemented on random basis and action plan was prepared accordingly.

25 Computerization of Administration and the process of Admissions and Examination Results, Issue of Certificates:

This year college participated in Digital University Programme launched by MKCL under which the procedure of admission, Eligibility of students and the other things were implemented with the help of Information technology. Results of home examination were also prepared with the help of computer programme.

26 Increase in the Infrastructure Facilities

This year we have completed the construction work for two class rooms

for Science faculty. Instruments, equipments, chemicals were purchased for newly started

science faculty. Ten computer one LCD Projector and two printer were purchased for

computer laboratory and college office.

30 Activities and Support from the Alumni Association

The college organized a meeting of past students on 25th March 2009.

The college organized meeting of parents on 24th March 2009.


32 Health Center

Although, we do not have formal Health Care Centre, we organized General Health Check Up Camp on 12th December 2008. Doctors from Government Hospital and Primary Health Centre were invited in this camp. A separate form comprising all-important information about students' health was prepared. In this free camp, Doctors made check up of every student, recorded observations and guided the student for further treatment if necessary.

College provides incentives to the outstanding sports persons in kind as well as in cash i.e. Track-Suit, Shoes etc. are provided to the students. The Traveling Allowances and Dearness Allowances are also paid to these students.

36 Activities of the Guidance and Counseling Unit

College has established “Guidance and Counseling Committee”. During the admissions and examination period, this committee provides guidance to the students and suggests the path of betterment.


37 Placement Services Provided to Students

Career Guidance Cell (CGC) of the college provides various information to the students by regularly displaying advertisements related to job opportunities in various fields. Besides CGC organized following program.

1. The workshop on “Personality and Soft skill Development” was organized on 21st Sept. 2009. Shri Sadanand Apte from Pune worked as a Resource Person.

2. Jetking, a well-known computer training institute has organized a one day workshop on ‘Opportunity’ in IT sector.

Monthly meetings were organized and proper direction was given for day to day working as well as plan for future. Computer awareness program was organized for improving the general level of efficiency.
