PREFACE

Sundarrao More college of Arts and Commerce Poladpur, Dist. Raigad (Maharashtra) is affiliated to University of Mumbai and accredited at C+ grade by NAAC on 3rd May 2004. We are expected to submit our first AQAR for the academic year 2004-2005. However, we could not able to do so as our college building was totally washed out in flood water on 25th July 2005 with all its furniture, library books and office documents. We have informed about this natural calamity in our AQAR for the period of 2005-2006. We herewith submit AQAR for 2004-2005. We hope and earnestly request NAAC to consider the genuine situation of Natural Calamity. We could not give detail information in this AQAR as the office records was totally washed out in the flood. We have conducted the meeting in the beginning of the academic year and chalked out an action plan. The details of this action plan and its out come is as follows.

1 Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the Institution:

The Mission statement our college is: Higher Education for the deprived ones. To achieve this mission we have kept before us certain goals and objectives. Some of the activities undertaken by the college in this year towards achieving these objectives are as follows :

Objective: To impart higher education to educationally deprived students: In this academic year 2004-05, the strength of girls students took admission in the college is noteworthy which are students who otherwise would have been deprived of higher education, as there is no other facility of higher education available in this remote and hilly area. Schemes and activities undertaken by our college, such as Group Insurance Scheme, various scholarships, free ships, Book–Bank Scheme etc have proved very useful to encourage economically backward students of this area to take up higher education. Objective: To develop over-all personality of the students :

To ensure overall personality development of out students, various committees and departments of the college have undertaken following activities in the academic year 2004-05.

1. National A. Organized Tree Plantation programme Service B. Organized Blood Donation camp on 30th Nov. 2004 Scheme C. Organized Ten days residential camp at Kotwal village from 20th

to 29th Dec. 2004. In this camp volunteers repaired roads, cleaned village pond, constructed Vanarai bunds and also conducted village survey

D. Organized a lecture and poster exhibition on 1st Dec. 2004, World Aids Day

E. NSS students also participated in Pulse Polio, Red Ribbon, Nirmal Gram Yojana of state Government.

2. Cultural Activities Committee

Cultural Activities Committee encouraged students to take part in various inter collegiate and university level competitions.

3)Sports Committee

Sports Committee encouraged students to participate in various competitions and tournaments.

4)Career Guidance Cell

* Objective :- To provide platform for students encouraging them to take part in cultural, sports and extra curricular activities

* In this academic year 2004-2005 students have participated in various NSS, culture and sports activities organized on district, zonal and university level.

* Objective: - To inculcate civic values among students to make

them responsible citizens of India. * Students are increase to participate in NSS and other social activities

2 New Academic Programs Initiated:

From this academic year 2004-2005, the college has started English Literature as optional subject at First Year Arts level as per the permission of government and University of Mumbai.

3 Innovations in Curricular Design and transaction

It is well known that in an affiliated college system, modular curriculum has little place. In this year, our teachers participated in workshops organized to discuss the syllabi of their respective subjects.

4 Inter-disciplinary Programs Started

No inter-disciplinary program could be started by the college. But Foundation Course I and II, which is a compulsory subject for the students of first and second year, Arts and Commerce, is an inter-disciplinary subject, which covers topics like personality development, environmental awareness, story of science and scientific development, social environment etc.

41 Any Other Information Natural Calamity: - On 25th July 2005, there was heavy rain in the area. At the night time on the 25th July 2005, the college building was totally washed out in the flood water of Savitri River. We have lost all furniture, Library books and office records in this flood. Under the guidance of Sanstha, we have started rehabilitation work of our college.

C Future Plan of the institution for the academic year 2005-06 :

As is mentioned in the preface of this report, the college was totally washed out with all its furniture, computers, library books, office records, in the flood water on 25th July 2005.

On the background on this natural calamity, the college proposes to continue its rehabilitation work of the college in the next academic year i.e. 2005-2006.
